‘US president Donald Trump is not a truly independent political leader but merely a puppet of US corporations, military and intelligence, and who serves their interests, Syrian President Bashar Assad has told the Latin American TeleSUR TV network.

Trump pursues “no own policies” but only executes the decisions made by the “intelligence agencies, the Pentagon, the big arms manufacturers, oil companies, and financial institutions,” the Syrian leader said in an exclusive interview with TeleSUR.

“As we have seen in the past few weeks, he changed his rhetoric completely and subjected himself to the terms of the deep American state, or the deep American regime,” Assad added.’

‘The Bulgarian newspaper “Trud” published a report on April 21, 2017 about an investigation into the supply of Bulgarian weapons to the terrorists in Syria, shipped through Saudi Arabia.

‘Russia has questioned the integrity of a French intelligence report, which blames the Syrian government for the Idlib chemical attack, emphasizing that no amount of national probes will ever make up for the absence of an impartial international investigation.

“It seems that these countries either do not trust the OPCW, or trying to influence its work in the direction they need,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday referring to the latest French report that echoed previous claims by British and Turkish experts.

On Wednesday, France ‘declassified’ a 5-page document accusing Syrian government forces of carrying out a sarin nerve gas attack on April 4 in northern Syria, which reportedly killed up 100 people and injured hundreds more.’

‘Theresa May refused three times to answer a question on whether the UK would engage in air strikes against the Assad regime in Syria without a parliamentary vote on the matter, as the Foreign Secretary had earlier indicated it would.

At a campaign event in Leeds, the Prime Minister was asked the same question three times, about whether the UK would, as Boris Johnson had, find it ‘hard to say no’ to any request from the United States to launch strikes against the Assad regime, and would not necessarily seek a parliamentary vote on the matter.

She said it was a “hypothetical question” and that “there are no plans” for such a strike to take place.’

‘The IDF has fired a Patriot missile that allegedly destroyed a Syrian drone over the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights hours after an ‘incident’ near Damascus International Airport, widely reported as an alleged Israeli strike on Hezbollah arms depot.

Confirming that the Patriot missile successfully intercepted the unmanned aerial vehicle over the Golan Heights, the IDF stressed that the UAV was under Israeli Air Force’s “full surveillance” during the brief time it was in “Israeli airspace.”

“The IDF will not allow any breach of Israel’s airspace and will act against any attempt of infiltration,” the army said in a statement, according to the Times of Israel and Haaretz reports.’

‘Two leading U.S. news outlets reported on Wednesday on business ties totaling tens of millions of dollars between the family of Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, and the Steinmetz family, one of the richest families in Israel which made most of its fortune in the diamond industry in recent decades.

According to reports published in Bloomberg and in the New York Times, the ties between the two families include high-stake real estate deals in Manhattan worth more than $150 million. Bloomberg says at least 15 different buildings in downtown Manhattan are co-owned by Raz Steinmetz, nephew of diamond dealer Beny Steinmetz, and by Kushner family’s Kushner Companies. The two also invested together in a project bearing President Trump’s name in New Jersey, according to the report.

Steinmetz and Kushner worked on some of these joint ventures through a company called Gaia, which according to Bloomberg was listed on the Kushner Companies’ website as an investor in the past. A spokesperson for the Kushners said that indeed, the two sides have been longstanding business partners.’
