Breakout your tin foil hats!!! Its appears you are going to need them.
We’ve all heard of people that blame their actions on “voices in their heads” or “the devil told them to do it”.
Well, what if I told you that the Pentagon has developed lasers that broadcast messages directly into your brain in the form of human speech? Yes, you read it right, talking lasers!! Scientist at the Department of Defense have been working on such technology for an initiative called the Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate. Located at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, VA, their vision statement reads as follows: “A fully integrated non-lethal competency within each Service to complement lethal effects, enhance the Joint Force's adaptability and support strategic objectives that include minimizing civilian casualties.” Messages sent by the lasers are meant to warn enemy combatants that they are in danger and should not continue to carry out attacks. Lasers should be able to broadcast messages across hundreds of miles very soon.
While this may be news to most, the military has been dabbling with synthetic telepathy for some time now. During the 1993 siege on the Branch Davidians compound in Waco Texas, David Koresh (the compounds leader) was the proposed target for a synthetic telepathy experiment . The FBI recruited Russian mind control scientist Igor Smirnov to beam the voice of God into Koresh’s mind. God’s voice was to be played by famed actor Charlton Heston. The FBI opted to not follow through with this plan.
I think its safe to say that the ability to implant ideas into our brain has been around for some time now. This technology is a threat to the privacy and freedom of every human on the planet. Unfortunately it gets worse. Not only can thoughts be transmitted into our brain, but it appears as if our thoughts can be read as well.
Facebook has created a wearable machine that can read your inner voice. The brain computer interface device was developed by Facebook Reality Labs, a division of Facebook. It’s aim is to facilitate telepathic communication with external devices. Physical handling of external devices will not be necessary and neither will audible speech. In order to make this happen, Facebook will need access to you brain. The social media giant already has access to your pictures and conversations, is it really a good idea to give them access to our brain data? Facebook has proven irresponsible to say that least with its user’s information ( Cambridge Analytica scandal ). How can anyone begin to trust it with our most private data?
This technology will also be used to help people with paralysis, which is a major benefit to man kind. Restoring speech and movement to patients that have lost those abilities is an excellent function for this new tech. Unfortunately Facebook and other social media/tech giants can not be trusted to respect the thin line between benefits and detriment .
Our world is rapidly evolving into a place where the expectation of privacy is non existent. There may come a time where the word “privacy” is eliminated from the lexicon. I know that sounds extreme but if we have reached a point where we can’t keep our most private thoughts to ourselves, what else is there left to be revealed about us? We will be an open book. With all our feelings, sexual or otherwise, available to all.
We must also worry about mental manipulation by those with the ability to implant ideas into your mind. How can we be sure that our thoughts are original and not coming from an external source? Will our brain data be sold? Will this new tech be able to access our subconscious ?
The bottom line is we must tell them to stay out of our brains. It is everything we are and from the looks of it, all we have left in terms of privacy. We must protect it.
