'A game of Monopoly lets players hoard piles of cash in a way few of us can in real life – but that's about to change as the game goes cashless.
Manufacturer Hasbro has created a version that uses digital assistant technology like the Amazon Echo to keep track of each player's money.
It's bound to be a godsend for players obsessed with making sure everybody sticks to the rules, as the technology will make cheating a thing of the past, The Times reports.
Mr Monopoly, with his famous top hat and white moustache, will be a voice-activated banker whose voice is broadcast from a top hat-shaped smart speaker in the middle of the board.
The board game is aimed at more technologically savvy players who do not want the trouble of dealing with paper money.
Playing pieces such as the ship, the car and the dog will each have a button so players can activate transactions.
A Hasbro spokesman said: 'Talk to Mr Monopoly and he responds. Press your token's button and say, 'Buy St James Place', and Mr Monopoly will track the transaction, keeping the game moving.'
And in the same way that some digital assistants joke or respond to a conversation, Mr Monopoly will have a 'personality'.
The game will only be for four players rather than six, and the board's colours have been changed to a black background with fluorescent colours for properties.'
