'THE US is bracing itself for winter in the summertime as a snow bomb creeps in across the Atlantic bringing with it a blanket of snow and ice.
A winter weather advisory has bizarrely appeared in May for the New England region area of the US, warning of up to two inches of snow swooping in thanks to an unusually low pressure system across the west of the States. States such as Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island are at risk of being paralysed by the sub zero temperatures and late season snow due today. Valley locations are particularly at risk, with snow collecting in areas measuring 1,500 feet.
The National Weather Service (NWS) said this could be made worse with additional rain forecast.
The NWS added: “Plan on slippery and snow-covered roads as elevation increases, especially above 1,500 feet.”
Highlighting the areas of concern, they said: “We have issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the shaded areas. 1 to 3 inches expected even in the valleys.
“As best as we can tell, this is the first winter weather product that we have issued in May since 2002.”
They later added: “#Snow is possible over the next couple of days in the interior Northeast! Here are the probabilities of receiving 4+ inches of snow-mainly confined to higher elevations.”'
