'A mother drowned her four-year-old daughter in the bath and then set fire to her body in the garden after telling her 'You're going to see the angels. See you in heaven,' a court heard.
Amelia Brooke Harris was found dead under a coffee table by police in the garden of her home in a South Wales village.
Her body was 'taken out of the bath, wrapped in toilet paper and carried outside covered in a sheet'.
A jury heard her mother Carly Ann Harris, 38, was suffering from mental health issues when she killed her 'fun-loving, bubbly little girl.'
The prosecution said Harris 'believed her daughter would go to heaven but would be reincarnated two days later' and added she 'sacrificed her to prove her faith to God'.
After her arrest Harris told police the 'angels told her to do it' and that she 'might be possessed'.
One juror was excused 10 minutes into the trial because she could not bear to hear the gruesome details of how Amelia died.
Prosecutor Michael Jones said a neighbour heard at 9.15pm what sounded like a little girl screaming 'mammy, mammy, mammy'.
The court then heard Harris's 17-year-old son came home on Friday, June 8, to find his 11-year-old brother crying on the settee saying: 'Don't go out the back'.
Mr Jones said: 'His mother told him: "She's gone to heaven - she's coming back on Sunday".
'He went into the garden and saw a coffee table with a blanket over it. He lifted it and saw a charred leg.
'Neighbours heard the older child shouting: "How could you? She's my little sister".
'He was seen running around shouting: "You've killed her, you've killed her".'
