
'EU leaders believe there could be a Labour Government as soon January if Theresa May is forced to call another general election.
One European leader said: “There is the great difficulty of the leadership in Great Britain, which is more and more fragile.”
Speaking to The Times they said: “Britain is very weak and the weakness of Theresa May makes negotiations very difficult.”
The Brussels bureaucrats are said to prefer a Labour Government and have been described as the EU’s “puppet” because they are more likely to give in to their demands.
The trading bloc’s renewed hopes of a Labour Government come after Priti Patel resigned from Mrs May’s cabinet yesterday, the second minister to do so in a week.
Even before the renewed pressure on the Prime Minister the EU’s negotiator Michel Barnier was holding meetings with Labour’s top team.'
