MPs' Pay Could Jump to £90,000 a Year After Review

'A major review of MPs’ perks by the independent parliamentary standards authority raised the prospect of linking pay to earnings, rather than have it voted on by the Commons every year.
One idea was for MPs to be paid the equivalent of a multiple of average earnings “ranging from 1.5 to 4 times national average earnings”. Given that the typical person earns £23,000 a year, MPs’ pay of £65,738 is between 2.5 times and 2.9 times national earnings. If the proposal was adopted, it could see MPs’ pay jump to £92,000.'
