Greeks Hold anti-Austerity Demonstrations in Thessaloniki

'More than 12,000 protesters took to the streets on Saturday in northern Thessaloniki, where four separate marches took place in the country’s second largest city.
The protesters burned European Union flags and chanted slogans against the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The demonstrations turned violent when police clashes with anti-austerity protesters and used pepper spray, tear gas, and stun grenades to disperse the crowd.
Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras says the new austerity package is necessary to overcome the country’s current debt crisis.'
