'In a document sent to businesses in the British capital, the Scotland Yard authorized the use of what is known as “reasonable force” saying people can defend themselves in their homes or businesses by weapons if they believe they could be attacked.

“You do not have to wait to be attacked before using reasonable force for protection,” it said. The Scotland Yard said anyone who “honestly and instinctively” believes they are in danger can use force. "The more extreme the circumstances and the fear felt, the more force you can lawfully use in self-defence," the guidance said.

Based on the guidance, even if people use a weapon to attack an innocent person their action would be considered within the law and the use of reasonable force.'
