Default Yellowstone hit by series of quakes.

Denver Post.

Quote:
Yellowstone National Park has been hit by more than 200 earthquakes in the past two days following a period of 11 months of quiet seismic activity in the park.

The quakes have been gaining strength with a 3.1 tremor recorded at 11:03 a.m. today.

Professor Robert B. Smith, a geophysicist at the University of Utah and one of the leading experts on earthquake and volcanic activity at Yellowstone, said that the activity is a "notable swarm."

"The swarm is located about 10 miles northwest of Old Faithful, Wyo. and nine miles southeast of West Yellowstone, Montana," said Smith.

"There were a total of 206 located earthquakes in the swarm of magnitude 2.7 to 0.5 as of 9 a.m. Monday morning. And there has been one report of one of the larger earthquakes being felt in Yellowstone National park."

Smith said that at this time, he believes this particular swarm is normal for tectonic related sources in the volcanic setting of Yellowstone "and not an indication" that some sort of volcanic activity will occur.

He added, however, that there is ongoing analysis based on information gained from different sources.

Smith said such swarms are "relatively common."

In late December 2008 and early January 2009, Yellowstone National park experienced the second largest earthquake swarm in Yellowstone's recorded seismic history. The swarm under the north end of Yellowstone Lake consisted of 813 earthquakes with magnitudes ranging up to 3.9

Underneath Yellowstone is the biggest Super volcano known to man.

If this one goes up (and I believe its 100,000 years overdue)
we are screwed.

Makes you think why they built them DUMB

Wow, infinite T

Is California in the world?

If Yellowstone blows we ALL suffer.

But.... from the OP....

So hopefully it's not too bad, it's not the worse they've had.

I've always been curious about death. I can't wait to find out all the answers. But I want to go gently. This is scarey!

You will go gently, a few years of starving and avoiding the gangs, in a constant nuclear winter
