Too much computer use can lower the IQ

There has been studies by scientists in London universities, claiming that the more hours spent in front of the PC can lower the IQ and the effects on your brain is like is you smoked cannabis.
I feel this is true, I go to this site and my own shopping sites only to remain alert.

I guess it depends more on what you use it for

I do feel that the light from the screen can hurt my eyes and give me a headache though, could there be any more to this?

adjust you screen's refresh rate, brightness and contrast so that it is more comfortable for you. if these don't work, then you probably need a good sleep

right click on your desktop, properties > settings > advanced > monitor

check "refresh frequency" and choose the highest supported by your monitor if it is not being used already (click the "hide modes that this monitor cannot display" box).

your screen may need size adjustments if you make any alteration. you can always switch it back as it were also. the highest refresh freq will eliminate flickering if there is any.

this study is made by a London University, and they do say exactley is that if you surf online rather than know where you are going it can cause the damage.
To work on the computer you need to have some time away from it, but mindless surfing is where the problem is. They have done studies regarding this with some students, and after half an hour of on-line surfing that's when you will become disorganised and so on. It claims to protect your mind, the maximum amount on that machine should be 2hrs.

If spending too much time on the computer lowers the IQ, then that doesn't tell us much. Spending too much in front of a television set on the other hand lowers a person's intelligence I reckon, and that's much worse!!! IQ and intelligence are almost diametrically opposite metrics.

Im willing to bet that people who use it to look and study this forum.. Makes their IQ go up! At least Intelligence and comprehension of the outside world... IQ = intellingence quotient .. right?... strange phrase to begin with as i have met lots of peeps who i know have low iq, yet are strangely divine in their own rights...
