Relief for Haiti Earthquake Disaster
14th January 2010
£30,000 IN RELIEF FOR HAITI EARTHQUAKE
Following the devastating earthquake which took place in Haiti on Tuesday 12th January 2010, the President of The Freemasons’ Grand Charity has approved two emergency grants totalling £30,000. The funds have been issued to the British Red Cross and Plan.
The 7.3-magnitude quake, Haiti's worst in two centuries, struck at 1653 local time (2153 GMT) on Tuesday. The epicentre was within 10 miles of the centre of the densely-populated capital, where around one million people live, more than 50,000 people are feared dead.
The British Red Cross has been awarded £20,000 to assist with their relief efforts. Red Cross volunteers in Haiti are currently assisting the injured and supporting hospitals who do not have enough capacity to deal with this emergency. The most urgent needs at this time are search and rescue, field hospitals, emergency health, water purification, emergency shelter, logistics and telecommunications.
Plan has also been granted £10,000 in support of their efforts in dealing with the immediate aftermath of the disaster. Plan’s priorities are assisting children and their families and getting people into safe accommodation wherever possible, as well as working with survivors to help ease their psychological trauma.

I don't understand why you are posting these to this Forum?? They are of little of no interest to normal non-Masons let alone the people here who will assume their use as being some kind of "campaign"!
These notices were intended for the consumption of Freemasons not non-Masons, hence where you found them.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, vodka in one hand, Cigar in the other - body thoroughly shagged, totally worn out, and screaming -WOO HOO!

I agree with Mike kadosh. Any non-Mason wishing to support relief efforts in Haiti should support their own country's relief fund.
In England, you can go into any major high street bank and make a donation at the counter.
The Grand Lodge of All England has no connection with any other body, Masonic or non-Masonic unless supported by a written Treaty or Agreement ratified by a Convocation of The Grand Lodge of All England. grandsecretary speaks on behalf of The Grand Lodge of All England. He does not represent the policies or views of ANY other Masonic organisation.

Masonic History of Haiti
The Masonic History of Haiti can be divided into two parts: Before 1789, the native name was obviously not in use and the territory of the State formed the current "French Saint-Domingue, the richest of the" islands".
The masonry of the ancient regime is met with great success and Saint-Domingue (see Morin, Morin Patente, Scottish Rite Ancient and Accepted) has been a "laboratory" of high rank.
A. The Review identified the following boxes:
East Cape: St. John of Jerusalem Scottish incorporated on 1st March 1749 by the box full of Scots of St. John of Jerusalem, East of Bordeaux. It has been three (3) boxes during the recess of the Grand Lodge: Harmony (or harmony) that existed in 1766, Harmony Having met in 1768 at the Lodge St. John of Jerusalem which we know nothing and the truth, reconstituted in 1767 and formed the "Sovereign College of St. Andrews in Scotland" in 1771.
East Cavaillon Brothers Zealots formed in 1775 and recognized by the Grand Orient in 1778.
East of Cayes (or Plain bottom to Cow Island): The Concorde founded in 1785 by Morin, Brothers Discrete created in 1785, founded the Brotherhood Meeting (by English) in 1738 or 1740 that formed a Chapter in 1789.
East of Fond-des-Negroes: Choose the Brothers formed in 1772
East Fort-Dauphin: St. John of Jerusalem or the New Covenant established in 1769 by St. John of Jerusalem, East Cape. The Star Union created in 1777.
East of Jacmel: The choice of men is in 1783.
East of Jeremiah: The Meeting of Hearts formed in 1788 with the rank in 1786 which created in 1789 a Chapter King Henry 1st (real name Christopher) North (1707-1802). In the part of the island under the leadership of Henry 1st, Brother of Obernay formed around 1810 Senior Grades securities lavish in those controlled by Petion, several cells were reconstituted French.
Thus, our elder brothers, strong the consent of the very illustrious brother President Petion, through the Most Illustrious Brother Theodat Trichet sent missions to the cabinet of St. James in London, have taken the necessary steps with the Grand Lodge of England to obtain a charter allowing them to work under its auspices and guarantee due to Masonic lodges and masons Haitian. The application of patronage of Masonry in Haiti was positively welcome and The Grand Lodge of England bestowed the constitutions Respectable Lodge "Happy Reunion" Les Cayes, respectively, which were registered with number 603 and 604 in the cataloque regular Masonic lodges in the United Kingdom . The Masonry in Haiti took a quick flight, developed in a few years through the Repub. He settled as other lodges in the South, in Jacmel, in the Grande Anse to Jeremiah and even in Port-au-Prince. The Grand Lodge of England then thought to form a Provincial Grand Lodge in Haiti.. It invests Brother John Goff at the expense of the first Grand Master. Masonry continued to develop relations between the English Provincial Grand Lodge in Haiti and the Grand Lodge of England were most excellent and followed. The Grand Master Goff put all his good will and dedication to évolutiopn Institution.
Unfortunately, this period was short, the obligation of own trrs Illustrious Brother John Goff forcing him to frequently travel to Europe where he was held for long enough time for purposes of his trade and it began to seriously affect the relations between the English Masonic Province in Haiti and the relationship between the English Masonic Province in Haiti and Obedience Mother. We had no news of the Grand Master, his Deputy, Brother Douglas had to actually take charge. Relations with England desperately slowed.
With the death of the Most Illustrious Grand Master Robert Douglas, the Haitian masons of English Provincial Grand Lodge proposed to replace the missing brother illustrates a prestigious builder, the very illustrious brother Jacques Ignace Fresnel then the Chief Justice "Supreme Court " of the Republic. The Grand Lodge of England condescended to recognize this distinguished Masonic load. No improvement was effected in our relations with the Grand Lodge of England, the situation worsened, so that we could not even know if it received the English boards of Haiti. The relationship between the Grand Lodge of England and the English Provincial Grand Lodge of Haiti had completely deteriorated. All correspondence between them had ceased. Thus, although imbued with the predicament in which was the Provincial Grand Lodge met in the special May 25, 1823 decided that members of the regular lodges Masonic Province "after careful consideration, as masons regular citizens d a free and independent state, it is their dignity to govern themselves by their own constitution and bylaws of the association. " "The Provincial Grand Lodge unanimously and solemnly declared that the lodges of the Masonic Province English ceased from that moment and forever, to be part of the Grand Lodge of England, and she was sitting, Great Orient D ' Haiti, etc ... " This manifesto was proclaimed in large formal dress January 25, 1824 (see manifesto).
The attraction of high grades, the enthusiasm of Haitian masons for this new rite, did they began to shift in the number GOH to embrace EBITDA.
Worried about such a situation threatening the very existence of the sovereign national allegiance and independent, to avoid a split in the masonry in Haiti, leaders GOH induced entry talks with the promoter New Rite, Brother STIGUY, which led to integration, alongside the Haitian Rite, the rite in the EAA GOH. The Resp.: Lodge Mount Lebanon rallied obedience in its national registration number the current No. 22.
Facing this new situation, the Council of the College of GOH, displaying lucidity, retirement Rite Haitian degree of R + C, introduced the rank of "Past Master" and merged the two Rites hence the combination of two securities Grand Masters and Grand Commander. A new constitution consecrated this fact and organize operation and authority of a Rite Haitian expanded to the dimensions of EBITDA, by prescribing a new regulation.
Until 1955 under the Grant Maillet of Past Grand Master Louis A. Mullery who was chairman of the Haitian delegation to the Plenary Meeting of the IJC held in Havana, Cuba. The assembly ordered him to renounce his title of Sovereign Grand Commander, as only the great masters or their duly authorized representatives large are entitled to participate in Focus Symbolic of American Masonic Confederation.
On his return to Haiti, the case was submitted to the Ordinary National Convent of January al'humanité which ratified the decision of the CMI And separation of independent and sovereign bodies took place with the appointment by the Supreme Council of the New Sovereign Grand Commander who led the Philosophical Degrees and until 1981, which was founded a new Forum called Grand Conclave of Haiti for the Rites York and headed by a Grand Eminent Commander.
Since then, all Constitutions and By-Laws in force in the Grand Orient of Haiti in 1824 voted by Covents are in harmony with the Constitution and General Regulations of the CMI and continue to work for greater glory of the Great Architect of the Universe.
