Smile Weekend

My 13 yr old has just come back from a mini survival w/end with the Scouts. Went out Friday nite with sleeping bag and survival tin, to a large hill with some woods and scrub.Scouts provided some plastic sheeting to help build a shelter, sleep on etc.
Just got back rather damp and bedraggled and is now tucking into a rather large bacon sandwich
He thoroughly enjoyed it, despite the really shit weather !!! Great experience for him and his m8s something rarely done these days due to the PC brigade.

Ah that sounds great & something all kids should experience imo! I'm glad he enjoyed it, despite the crappy weather

That's great, far better than them sitting in front of the TV or playing Xbox (although my son still does)
imo they should teach kids these skills in school, fire by friction, shelter building etc rather than R.E
At least its usefull.

yeah , kids need to learn this stuf .
Funny enough they think it is fun as where some adults dont likeit at all .

funny how kids can adapt and make adventure where some adults call it fear mongering .

Glad ya kid had a good time .

its good to know .

The crappy weather may have provided your son a much better learning experience than if it had been sunny and warm.
