I am my sons FATHER and I can only nudge and point and EDUCATE. He may sometimes feel my WRATH if I KNOW what he does is foolish, but I do not OWN him - I do not expect him to be grateful for the HARSH truths I tell him - I can only reveal to him TRUTH and let him make his own decisions.

HOW did "man" KNOW to write,

FWIW I think the Bible is written to control you. Every single verse and page in there has been carefully engineered to make you live in fear, false hope and guilt.
I am interested in where your thread is going.
The news behind the news thread is like some kind of art project gone wrong, I don't understand the leaps of logic. Seems like more of a game. The six degrees of kevin bacon.. but with conspiracies. Hopefully this thread has more clarity.

ADELAIDE'S housing prices
will increase 23 per cent by the middle of 2012,
the biggest rise in values of all the capital cities,
and nearly twice the growth rate of Perth and Canberra,
according to a new report.

The sluggish Sydney market,
which hasn't seen a rise in median house prices since 2003,
will turn in the second-best result in the three years
from June 2009 to June 2012,
with compound price growth of 21 per cent,
says mortgage insurer QBE's Housing Outlook report,
The Australian reports.

"Double-digit house price growth is forecast
across all capital cities from June 2009 to June 2012,
particularly in those markets with positive affordability,"
according to QBE LMI chief executive Ian Graham.

In Melbourne, price rises of 19 per cent by mid-2012 are forecast,
Darwin 17 per cent, Brisbane and Hobart 15 per cent,
Perth and Canberra 12 per cent.

"Despite a 0.25 per cent rate rise in the first week of October,
housing interest rates are expected to remain at a stimulatory level
for some time, with the low interest rate environment
remaining supportive of the first-home buyer," Mr Graham said.

The ending of the increased first-home owner grant boost scheme in December could cause prices at the lower end of the market to dip in the first quarter, but pent-up demand would mean only a short-term easing, he said.

Housing markets have turned quickly with the Australian Bureau of Statistics showing capital city median prices fell 1.4 per cent in the year to June.

The report, prepared by economist forecaster BIS Shrapnel, said the weak economy would dampen house price growth until mid next year.

"Household income overall is being undermined
by the reduction in working hours," the report said.

Mr Graham said that from later next year, comparatively low interest rates and improved economic conditions would speed up the growth in house prices.

"A broad-based recovery is forecast from the second half of 2010 as conditions in the labour market stabilise and investors and buyers are attracted back into the market by low interest rates and high rental yields."

However, it will be nothing like the last market peaks where prices rose 24 per cent in Sydney in its boom year of 2002, 31 per cent in Brisbane in 2004 and 36per cent in Perth during 2006, Mr Graham said.

The report said flatter economic growth this year and into next would result in the Reserve Bank pausing interest rises until the second half of 2010 with rates rising more strongly thereafter.

"Price growth is forecast to ultimately slow from 2012-13 as further rises to interest rates, in response to lower unemployment and emerging inflationary pressures, begin to impact on affordability and demand," it said. Sydney's median house price was $544,000 at June, a fall of 0.4per cent during the previous year. The report forecasts a 2 per cent rise for 2009-10, a 7 per cent increase in 2010-11 and 11 per cent the following year. The pace of growth is similar in other capitials.

The Housing Outlook report says
the very low residential vacancy rates
of between 1.2-2.9per cent in the capital cities
will drive strong rental growth next year
and more moderate growth from 2011
as more new housing is built.

p.s. and it was little old SEBASTOPOL, Ballaart

with a 15% rise in prices...but that was NO Surprise

could be an Olympic champion,
says the head sailing coach at
the Australian Institute of Sport.

Victor Kovalenko, who is also the crown prince's coach,
was testing the waters off Shark Island
with his royal charge yesterday,
for the World Masters Games regatta, which starts today.

''He's very quick, he has a very balanced mind,
he's a really good athlete … but he has no chance to practise
because his duties as a prince [are his priority].
'Prince' is not only a title;
it's a huge responsibility.''

Prince Frederik will be racing with his friend
Chris Meehan, who runs Belle Property.

Underground fires have been raging for weeks in a wetlands area in southern Spain, sparked by the dry summer and the overuse of water for agriculture, an environmentalist said Tuesday.

The Tablas de Daimiel National Park, fed by the Guadiana river, has been drying up since the 1980s, and some lagoons have already disappeared.

In late August, hot dry weather caused the peat subsurface to catch fire, and plumes of smoke can be seen rising from the ground, said Jose Manuel Hernandez, head of the environmental organisation that looks after the park.

"This is a new phenomenon in the park" and "an extraordinary warning, a very clear signal of the degree of degradation of the park," he told AFP.

"The park is sinking so it is urgent" to flood it so the water table can be restored, he said.

The 2,000-hectare Tablas de Daimiel is the centrepiece of the Mancha Humeda wetlands zone, home to diverse birdlife, that UNESCO in 1980 placed on its list of Biosphere Reserves.

But UNESCO last year warned Spain it had three years to restore the zone or it would be withdrawn from the list.

Spain was hit by dozens of wildfires last summer as temperatures remained around 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) in much of the country.

The price of gold forged a record high above 1,068 US dollars an ounce here on Tuesday as the dollar sank against the euro.

On the London Bullion Market, gold struck 1,068.63 US dollars an ounce, which was the highest level ever recorded.

Gold's latest pinnacle was recorded after the European single currency climbed as high as 1.4876 US dollars, a level which was last seen in August 2008.

A struggling greenback makes the precious metal cheaper for investors holding other currencies, thereby boosting demand, analysts said.

The glamorous metal, used in jewellery, dentistry and electronics, has struck a series of all-time highs in recent weeks owing to the weak dollar.

The price of gold later pulled back to 1,057.50 US dollars an ounce, which compared with 1,058.75 US dollars an ounce late on Monday.

The White House has gone on the offensive against its critics in the press, singling out Fox News and going so far as to accuse the News Corp.-owned network of waging a "war against Barack Obama."

White House Communications Director Anita Dunn has led the charge, appearing on CNN television and conducting interviews with Time magazine and The New York Times in recent days to make her case.

The unusual White House campaign comes as President Obama faces mounting opposition to his health care reforms, growing concern over the situation in Afghanistan and a continuing general economic malaise.

The president also suffered a setback recently when his personal effort to win approval for Chicago to host the 2016 Olympics was rejected and his Nobel Peace Prize has met with more barbs than bouquets.

Speaking of media magnate Rupert Murdoch's Fox, Dunn told the Times in an interview published Monday: "We?re going to treat them the way we would treat an opponent.

"As they are undertaking a war against Barack Obama and the White House, we don?t need to pretend that this is the way that legitimate news organisations behave," she said.

In comments just days earlier to Time magazine, Dunn, a veteran Democratic Party communications strategist who joined the White House in May, denounced Fox as "opinion journalism masquerading as news."

"They are boosting their audience. But that doesn't mean we are going to sit back," she said.

Appearing on CNN on Sunday, Dunn said "the reality of it is that Fox News often operates almost as either the research arm or the communications arm of the Republican Party."

Dunn said the White House would not be a "passive bystander" as opponents try to "tear down the president and his presidency."

"We will push back," she said.

The push back has included a blog post on WhiteHouse.gov in which the White House denounced what it called "Fox lies" and "an attempt to smear the administration's efforts to win the Olympics for the United States."

The White House blog singled out Glenn Beck, a conservative talk show host on Fox, for criticism, saying his program "has shown that nothing is worthy of respect if it can be used as part of a partisan attack to boost ratings."

Beck has been a relentless critic of the Obama administration and labelled the president a "racist" in a July appearance on another Fox program.

"This guy is, I believe, a racist," Beck said, adding that Obama, America's first black president, has a "deep-seated hatred for white people."

Larry Sabato, director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia, said the White House may be lashing out at Fox "because the Democratic base is starting to be more critical of Obama.

"The world was expected to be transformed in approximately a month and it just didn't quite happen that way," Sabato said. "So if you're in that position and you need to rally your base, you need to find a common enemy.

"They're going on the offensive to rally the base and the base will rally to them because they hate the 'right-wing noise machine' too," he said. "Everyone needs an enemy in politics. Everyone needs a devil figure."

The White House offensive against Fox comes despite a reported meeting last month between senior Obama adviser David Axelrod and Fox News chairman and chief executive officer Roger Ailes.

Political news website Politico said Axelrod and Ailes met to discuss news coverage and the relationship between the White House and the network.

Fox, asked by AFP for a reaction to the White House criticisms, pointed to statements made by senior Fox executives to the Times and CNN.

"Instead of governing, the White House continues to be in campaign mode, and Fox News is the target of their attack mentality," said Michael Clemente, senior vice president for news at the Fox News Channel.

"Perhaps the energy would be better spent on the critical issues that voters are worried about," he said.

Clemente also noted that Fox programming is a mixture of news and opinion.

"So, with all due respect to anyone who still might be confused about the difference between news reporting and vibrant opinion, my suggestion would be to talk about the stories and the facts rather than attack the messenger ... which over time, has never worked," he said.
