I agree with you! I still have to read it, but I watched a documentary about it on the History channel once. It explained it a bit, and I was simply amazed! I have been convinced that this is the truth and a guide to a confused soul. I think about it a lot sometimes.

It's been about 12 years since I read it. Being rather young (ca. 18), it was one of those, "I need to move to the Himalayas and study with an enlightened master or I'm fucked!! What's the point of even living?!" Maybe that's a bit melodramatic, but it was definitely something that made me extremely unhappy with my existence in Western Society.
I have since gained a little more perspective and I think Carl Jung's advice is very prescient: "It is not wise, and perhaps dangerous, to practice another culture's spiritual traditions outside of that culture." [paraphrase] |
