Lead vaccinations (not lead in vaccinations)

HI all,

I Live in Hull East Yorkshire UK and I had a conversation with a rather weird individual about 4 years ago, this individual (I can't remember his name) claimed that when he was a child there were new roads being built near his family home in the 80's (I think he also grew up in Hull) and because of these new roads he claims he was injected with some kind on lead vaccination.

I would like to know if any of you on here have ever heard of children living near roads to be given a 'vaccination' containing lead supposedly to either increase their resistance to lead or to make the lead in the petrol fumes be less of a shock to the childrens' bodies.

I have scoured the Internet for information but I can't find any information other that a 'lead injection' is a term used to describe shooting someone (usually in the head).

I would possible dismiss this information but I have no reason to suspect that the guy was lying, and there is something about the information that rings true from my own childhood memories, but I can't remember any specifics I just have a general feeling of truth to the matter...

anyhow thanks in advance and any information at all would help me investigate this further

Sounds like something "they" might do, but maybe it was stopped before it went national or something.

Interesting.

I first thought that they would have tried this earlier than the 80's. I'm guessing it was tried, most things were.

Trial & error. Some scientists like to do something to 'see what happens' no matter what the loss.

I'm not even sure of when they first discovered that lead isnt good for the body. I know that some of the Romans royal families had lead cups, and over time they baically went crazy.

I'm not altogether sure that it started in the 80's, I was born in 1980 and something about the guys story rang true to me because I have the vaguest of memories that something like this happened near me similar to this.

It is also highly possible that this guy (who I still cant remember the name of) was older than me and was around in the 70's to have this done to him

I remember reading in 'a short history of nearly everything' by Bill Bryson that the Americans were using lead solder in tin cans right up till the 80's
