Talking Police Put Straight on the Law

This is quite an amusing little clip...

Police officers, ignorant of the law (surprise, surprise).

Oh cool - I had no idea!

Cheers (btw, it's high up on the popular liveleak clips, so evidently there's lots of appreciation out there for this defiance).

that was so satisfying to see those smug we-can-do-whatever-we-want idiots get told! didnt have the decency to apologise or even look him in the face when they found out they were wrong.
what do they actually teach police? clearly they dont teach them the law or how to show any manners and respect for the people that pay thier wages!

"Tail between their legs" is the phrase that comes to mind. Just walking off without any apology or anything. Shocking. I'd say it's the younger officers like these two, that are the problem. All the police I've encountered over the years in their 40s onwards tend to be fair blokes that don't push their power around. I think we're just seeing a rise in insecure younger ones who are joining for the power they 'think' they have over people. Guys with shaved heads and all kitted up like a Swat team. It has gone to their heads. And that woman, trying to make an issue out of nothing out of desperation to pin something on the film maker. Let's come to a fair agreement. They don't film us however they like whenever they like, and we won't film them. It cannot and should not be 'one sided'. Otherwise this kind of thing will continue.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I read something on this forum recently that said a law had been amended that now it 'was' illegal to film or photograph them on duty? If anyone has the details it would be good for us all to know exactly what we have to work with if the situation should arise.

I notice the man didn't get an apology, not even one word after the police officers discovered they were infact incorrect. Surely they should be aware of what is actually illegal or not and have better people training/some common decency and manners. Disgusting.

It's not the fact that you could do time for terrorism, that's highly unlikely...It's the fact that the laws can be used to stop photographers doing there job. All the police have to do is arrest you under the act, and then release you when all the actions over, so you miss the police beating the shit out of people at political rallies etc.Which already happens to some extent, but this just makes it easier. Convenient eh? Bastards. Especially when there is likely to be more civil unrest with the recession and that.

Shocking isn't it, KingMonkey. We could easily throw the - "If you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to fear" back their way. It is interesting that in the latest accusation of excessive force, the officer didn't have his shoulder I.D number on by all appearances. Clearly they know how it feels to be under scrutiny. All they have to do is simply not comply with orders of observation to treat us like mice in a lab, and they won't have it happen to them in return. Or mistrust of each other is just going to rise and rise.

We could 'work' with the police in preventing our freedoms from being eroded, because none of us (even them) like being under intense scrutiny. But examples like the two younger ones above doesn't look promising for that, as it seems that any chance to have more power over the serfs is lapped up. This bloody 'terrorism' thing is taking the mick now. It's the wide net that can be cast to (as you say) round folks up and get them out of the immediate vicinity, or get officers out of tricky problems. Nowadays the two in the video above would probably have arrested him for something like that.

I wonder if members of the Government would be proud if they saw this?

I don't reckon they care how efficient plod is, as long as the ones who look after them are up to the job.

Those officers did look like the 2 thickest kids in the playground, didn't they! Not the kind of people you'd put much faith in to solve actual crimes, even if they ever learned enough of the law to decipher what's a crime & what isn't.

Even the manner in which they both rung the station to get advice on the law (hehehe!) resembled kids, going, "Now you're in for it - tellin' over you".

And their sullen mooching off when they discovered they were wrong - pure comedy!

What a credit to the force!

The male cop was the worst, I did detect the female cop for a couple of brief moments looked a bit embarrassed.

They must of been overly embarressed, not only to make that kind of powerful statement but to walk in on someone's property, accuse them of breaking the law, then they can't even answer a simple question of which act it is under and then get told what they said was rubbish by their own commanding office - WHILE BEING VIDEO TAPED. wow - comedy.

See, what the police don't understand is they have to obey the law too once they're off duty. Or they are supposed to,anyway. So,then I would let them know they are in the same boat as the rest of us.They are no better but they they need to understand who is really calling the shots and it's not their superiors.

They need your name and address in order to act on behalf of the corporation they represent, namely the police force and Great Britain itself.

If you have caused harm to no-one or loss then you don't owe them your name or address.

Dondaz is a legend.

Yup, they're allowed to film your every move with millions of CCTV cameras...but you aren't allowed to film them, gawd.

As John Harris points out as well; the T.V co's are allowed to film them while making shows like police camera action etc...
