Anyone know anything about the seventh Son?

The 7th son of a 7th son is supposed to have mystical powers. Same with
daughters. One of my grandmothers was a 7th daughter of a 7th daughter
and she was considered a witch while she was still living in Europe. She
sold potions, cast spells, etc. But, when she came over here she was told
to stop by someone in the catholic church (they don't like competition).

Interesting. Wondering what culture the Seventh Son originated and how far back the story goes.
