Last minute packing. What and why?

Okay you've realised that the shit is about hit the fan in some way. You are otherwise unprepared but decide to pack a haversack full of 'essentials' and start walking away from the city. What would people reccomend to pack?

Remember it's only a haversack

Peanut butter anyway and multivitamins.... and.... survival tabs, I've got a few of those.

have you read the survival list thread - there is a grab and run bag mentioned, it is very usefull
