Default Police and Police Dogs In My Back Garden

Ok so here's the situation, it's about 10pm last night and I'm watching the TV with my wife, my 2 yr old son has recently woken up and I've taken him downstairs just to quieten him down.

So I'm cuddling my little boy on the sofa and suddenly I have two policemen with dogs and flashlights all over my back lawn. I got a shock and my little boy was really distressed, we hadn't a clue what was going on, it was pretty intense to be honest.

2 minutes later there's a knock at the door and it's a police officer explaining that someones house 6 doors down had been broken into and they had jumped over our fence believing that the intruder may be in the garden.

Frankly the whole incident was deeply upsetting and I hated the commotion and how upset it made my son.

Fucking pigs.

Lest you thought you were free eh?

They can jump into your garden and invade your privacy any times the cunts want.....

Makes me fucking sick.

Excuse my language but I can totally imagine the situation you were in.

I would be pissed off as hell.

Lodge a complaint and go to the citizen's advice bureau, there's no way those fuckers should be allowed to storm your property like this.

really ?
I mean cmon, if there is a suspect running through gardens, do you really expect the police to just pack up their things and go home. Sorry to hear about the distress caused by your son, but I'm not sure what is expected. Im sure if they did follow the policy of not chasing after suspects through gardens or people's private propeties, you would have an outcry on this forum with the same people saying the "pigs" are stupid.

Don't they need search warrants to enter people's property?

I'm surprised you're siding with the filth here, what with Bill Hicks in your avatar..... Maybe you approve of the idea of cops storming around people's property on flimsy pretexts.

I don't.

They love terrorising people don't they?

A couple of years ago there were some swoops on whole streets where they were looking for drugs and/or stolen goods. The coppers covered in riot gear, smashing doors down at early hours of the morning. don't tell me there were no children in the whole street or that every single person living there was a drug-dealer or was handling stolen goods.
this upset me a lot as so many thought this to be a good idea!! The children must have been traumatised.

I'm sorry that your little boy had to go through that.

If they did that to my garden I would go mental! My veggies would get trampled.

I think it would have been much more distressing if the intruder had somehow gained access to your home. The police can't seem to win. If they had done nothing they are sneered at and when they do their job they are equally sneered at.

Seems reasonable to me.

Yes it could be said they are breaching your privacy but reasonable diligence is something the law recognises and that anyone can exercise and have lawful excuse for certain actions if its deemed reasonable.

If any of the police dogs were running loose that was wrong for them to be in your yard,if the dogs were under the control of the handler it's a different matter.

And probably their normal procedure in searching for a criminal and not over aggressive or negatively intrusive to your privacy or safety.Actually trying to help keep citizens safe, from a possible home invasion from a desperate individual

I don't see what else they could have done if I'm honest, if there was a guy in your back garden I'm sure you would reverse your thought pattern and be thankful. Sorry it caused distress to your son by the way, I can imagine he was frightened.

Let's use this as an example:

What if your house was broken into and the suspect was hiding in a garden down the street. Would you want the police to go looking in other peoples' gardens?

Unfortunately heres how this would work for me...

Suspect jumps in my backyard to get away... Pit Bull attacks suspect and begins chewing him. My Small Mutt dog (Known as "brown snoopy") thinks she has found a new game and latches on as well, happily growling.

I hear the dogs fighting but I am in the middle of a fat joint and know that the dogs wont hurt each other- So I holler "Knock it the fuck off-" out the back window.

Front door comes flying open (Cops smelled Cannabis and then heard me yelling- Total probable cause)

I am like "WTF?????" as the Stormtroopers surround me with guns pulled- I am just happy my Dogs are outside so the Police dont shoot them for trying to protect ME.

Cops now focus on me (while a man is being ripped apart out in my yard by a Pitt Bull and a Snoopy) yelling at me, going through my shit... The mans screams are less important than a possible "drug bust"

I show them my "medical card" and they leave. I am mad about my broken door-

The City comes by and fines me for having a Broken Door (eye sore) and the guy who jumped in my backyard, well, his Family (hes dead...) sues me for everything I have and my dogs are destroyed for being "dangerous".

My life is destroyed because some asshole jumped in my backyard.

the only reason they left was because they realised it was where the station sergeant lived!
he even had ganga growing in his garden!! but they left.

Yes, it was upsetting, but burglars bring nothing but distress, and also spare a thought for the people got burgled.

I just hope the Police eventually caught whoever did it, but unfortunately if they dont catch them in the act the chances become very slim

Well if it was me, and they stole something very valuable and the owners of the house where saying that they where not allowing the police to enter their house and arrest the suspect i would want the owners of the house to be arrested for harboring a criminal.

I am sorry, but it was not me that brought this inconvenience on them, it was the burglar burgled my house

Oh dont be such a fucking pussy will you? Someone's house was burgled six houses down and they thought they had the chance to catch the perpretrator.

How do you think the residents six doors down feel, having their house invade by some piece of shit? And how do you think they'd feel if some wetnosed tree hugger six doors up started complaining that Police were in their garden trying to capture the people who had trashed your house? If I was that guy six doors down from you and I heard that you were moaning about having your garden 'invaded' when I had just potential lost my valuables, which could include sentimental items that couldnt be replaced, I'd knock your teeth in next time I saw you in the street.

And lets not forget- they were doing their jobs. And lets not forget that self same criminal is probably responsible for a spate of other burgalaries across the area, spreading more misery for innocent people.

What do you think they should have done if they thought the criminal was in someone's garden, gone around the front, knocked and asked?

Fucking moronic response their edelweiss pirate. Grow up and live in this REAL world.

That happened to my house, I've a big garden and it was only movement caught my eye. I found 9 cops in black jumpsuits walking under the far trees towards the orchard. They said they were following a house breaker who had bolted cross country. They caught him!

He had broken into a neighbour's house 1/2 a mile up the road and did considerable damage! I was glad he was caught. If they had knocked on my front door the light would have flooded out and warned the burgler!
