Angry Why do Americans think they are...

The only people in the world? I see it on this forum. Why so US centric? It's the same on Youtube, people assume if you write in English you must be American. It's insulting to us British!!

I've never been asked if I'm American..

Much of the US population is conditioned to be jingoistic, whatever end of the political spectrum, but then so are the British.

I kind of think this forum is very UK in a deep ethnic way, more so than a couple of the other forums of this type out of the UK.

More down home and hard core UK folks so to speak.<< That is a compliment

We USA folks here are in the minority here, and it should be our responsibility to blend in and try to understand your style, but it's hard to understand at times when we grew up so differently so things get misunderstood sometimes.

I don't think there's an American slant here at all but then again, we're five hours ahead in the uk and I've never done the forum night shift

Brits can be just as bad! The attitude of some people about being British is terrible!

No-one has ever mistook me for an American.

Not that I'd get that offended if I did.

Americans are nice people, they just have an entire world sized country to spread out into, no need to leave it really.

I wish they'd stop changing our language though.

I was left with the impression that this forum had a slight leaning towards there being more British members.

Maybe it's just all the times when 'bollocks' has been written that has biased me

How could they do that on this forum? Most people seem to be British.

These forums are mostly British I've found. I can generally spot the American members by how they write. I can usually tell who's British and who's American.

And then there's other nationalities dotted around from mainland Europe, Africa, Scandanavia, etc.

That's my fascinating contribution anyway

That's a new one to me. I've never seen that and never had anyone think that.

ive found on this forum that british and americans are much more tolerant and understanding of each other, a big contrast however to alex jones new forum where there are separate groups for issues in different countries and it seems segregated. here we are in it together and we can see and learn about each others issues regardless of country.

You dont speak for all people British, if you feel insulted thats your issue based on your false sense of pride.

Im British, and I dont feel insulted if an American assumes im American, America does have a collective consciousness of the immature, being that it is an extremely young country, why would that immaturity offend you?

USA!USA!

Americans are propagandized to the hilt. That's the issue with some Americans, they believe everything they've been taught.

A great song, deceptively simple but says so much.
Also quite appropriate to the thread.

I would say because most people just go with the flow and tend to think of people being just like them. For example, I'm American, even though I know this site is predominately British, on other sites, I always just assume people are American too.
There is another site I frequent, and the user base is predominately female (like 95-5), so I always assume everyone is a female. When I find out XXuser is actually male, my reaction is always YOU'RE A GUY?!!?? lol I had no idea!

I do it with age too. Everyone is my age. Even my husband who is actually 8 years older than me lol.
