Spacecraft photographs Mars avalanche
 (AP Photo/NASA, University of Arizona) In this false color image released by NASA showing an active avalanche on Mars taken by the Reconnaissance Orbiter on Feb. 19, 2008 is the first ever image of active avalanches near the Red Planet's north pole. The image shows tan clouds billowing away from the foot of a towering slope, where ice and dust have just cascaded down. PASADENA, Calif. - A robotic spacecraft circling Mars has snapped the first image of a series of active avalanches near the planet's north pole, scientists said Monday. Read story here
