Default Meditation

For those who meditate I want to ask how exactly do you meditate?

Eyes open or closed? A certain posture?

Do you work towards clearing the mind or simply observing it?

Do you count your breath or simply just focus on your breath?

Do you work to be as aware of your surroundings and your body or do you work towards a more transcended state of mind beyond your surroundings?

There's loads of different techniques for different situations. Look up on Google if you want to know how to meditate. There's thousands of good articles to be found.

i think at first you should just try being more aware, open and grateful for the world around you. then only take the time to sit down for long periods and clear your mind once you start to feel the benefit of that. more active meditations are a great way to start. dream yoga type techniques have been the best type for me to understand.

Given the amazing results I and others have obtained for using these. I will trust my experience and study. I personally healed myself of different aliments using the info you tell me to trust you on not using. So where would trusting your opinion have got me if you told me this without my knowledge of the truth of them. Not helping me thats for sure.

I feel that meditation really should be a personal experience. There is no universally correct way, instead there is only the way that you prefer. Just make sure you pick the that method you truly prefer for the goal you want to achieve, not just the one that is the laziest.

+1. The site has links on satanism and such. This is not symptomatic of an enlightened source.

And you where still wrong on your original statement to me on the subject. And with your second statement here you are wrong again.

No the only person wrong here is you your answers were incorrect because you don't even understand this thread or what I am getting at. You are young, nieve and ignorant on the subject. Most of your posts reflect that. Not to be rude towards you but truthful.

Indeed, all you need to do is nothing, just stop doing.thinking.etc. Harder to do than it sounds but is that simple. Where this then takes you is up to you and how/where your willing to go.

Edit: okay I was responding to EP's post but that has vanished??

Yeah sorry about that.

I changed my mind about posting it.

But yeah, it's really simple but incredibly hard.

Personally I don't really going in for the creative visualisation stuff because I don't think that is a true experience, you're still using your mind to guide your higher body. But when you can totally shut off your mind, emotions, thoughts, then you will find your higher self whisked away, spinning at what seems light speed across vast distances which open up within yourself.

I've done various types of meditation. Lama Yeshe is a great resource.
Usually I meditate in bed at night before sleeping by concentrating on my breathing but without focusing on it too much. Sometimes if I struggled I'd pretend there was a screen in the middle of my focus and put concentrating on breathing there and keep aware to keep it there.
Another type I did in my previous job was to concentrate and keep intense awareness on the work I was doing at a machine. I would focus on the detail and getting it right and keep constant awareness on every aspect of the task.
In life just walking about you can keep your mind aware and focus on breathing and not switch off into robot/autopilot mode in everything you do.
Sleep meditation is possible to by trying to maintain awareness into sleep state and meditate through sleep. This is pretty advanced and I certainly have not mastered it.
There are a lot of free books online, holybooks.com for example have loads.
