dear moundbuilder
moundbuilding began with the middle archaic in the americas at the same time as metalworking and pottery appeared. some say there is charcoal under some mounds from 5000bc but that usually isn't the accepted date. so it would seem that you would need to lift a large copper age [4000 bc] society from somewhere in europe that built mounds, henges and cursii, made incised pottery with the double swirl, worshipped the bird god[dess] and the masked fire god, was seafaring and disappeared from europe mysteriously. that leaves you with a very short list: gumelnita/karanovo if you like artifact pics, someone has kindly compiled ALOT of them idols from the usa etc starts maybe halfway down the page after china and japan north america pots etc gumelnita idols etc gumelnita idols etc gumelnita pots etc i could point out some specifics from these albums if you don't see what i'm basing the short list on. peace |
