I mention this just to illustrate how things are at this level - how corruption seeps into the lives of those who don't know better - and how it is so easy for those with the sway to get all sorts of stuff done. This is how conspiracies can occur. I came to this town to get into business with some black friends - a white face was desirable and I was it. The councillor, who was advising my friends on their business venture was 'popular' in the area. I have no idea what I was doing at this one meeting that was had, and I was the one white amongst a crowd of black men (not unusual for me anyway, given my Handsworth upbringing). The councillor was the other white man there. He went on about the riots that had been happening up and down the country. Soon after that he started suggesting that a riot in this town wouldn't hurt - might get some investment into the area, he said. I don't know why he thought he could say that kind of thing in front of me, but I was young and I guess you don't get where you are in that business by not knowing your audience. Not long after that the town was smashed up. Could have been a complete coincidence, but no, it wasn't. Quite a few years later they wanted to turn a building right next to the councillor's nice detached property into a drug rehab centre. He had it burned to the ground. Didn't work the first time so he got someone else in to do the job properly. So here we have an influential man manipulating others to do his bidding on the pretence that it will be good for the community. What a horrible man he was, actually - a nasty person if ever there was, yet he came across as helpful and loving. I guess what I'm saying is that you can't trust any of these f***ers because they are complete c**ts at all levels - even though they don't always appear it. Obvious to some, unbelievable to others - I know the facts and they aren't nice. Last edited by snappysam; 03-03-2012 at 12:53 AM. |
