That Horizon programme was pretty disappointing I thought.

It was mostly scientists showing off their gadgets.

They did say that in the UK, they've worked out a way to stop the electrical surges from frying out the transformers. They just open up all their electrical supply lines so that the surplus of energy is well diffused. Hmmm ... I wonder if that would be sufficient for a really nasty X flare?

They should have imparted this gem of a solution to the owners of those transformer stations in the US that have already had blow-outs this past year or so.

They also made no reference to the fact that solar flares can cause electrical storms in our atmosphere (= ferocious weather) as well as earthquake and volcanic activity.

I didn't see it either. Did they mention any effect on human behaviour?

No they didn't Bel. All they talked about was the possible effect on our electrical supplies. There was a lot of annoying time filling-in in the programme with numerous shots of scientists standing outside staring at the sun through little pieces of dark glass.

There was more than ample time for these other "effects" to be mentioned but they didn't. It's as if they wanted to soothe us all into thinking that solar flares were OK really, despite telling us in the first sentence that they were likely to be colossal.



I wonder if this is a new flare from that sunspot, or the one already mentioned on this thread.

It was the usual "TV for Schools" level of information.
There was a safety message, be prepared, but no clues to how?
Sadly this is as good as it gets for TV science programs.
I watched bits of it on and off.

What came across loud and clear is they have no idea what the near future holds or what the sun is doing.

The situation seemed to be: think of some random numbers, connect then together and shazzam ! there you have it ....a theory about the sun.

I believe this to be the case too, I definitely refuse to fear the sun! Which in a way the Horizon programme was trying to get folk to do. "hell is breaking loose on the sun!" - yeh for our primitive technology

The ptb want us fearing the sun cos if we fear it we won't embrace these changes that it's going through and therefore it will most likely have an adverse effect on us. I'm just gonna sit and relax, take in these new energies in a calm way

I also noticed that after the Horizon programme they were announcing someother programme that was going to air at some point in the future, talking about how scientists have found that we don't have control over our feelings! I thought that kind of stuck out to me having just watched the programme on solar storms, propaganda to totally de-arm us for the changes ahead....

Looks like its best to shut down your electrical devices from late morning onwards........other than that, probably not too much of an issue.

hehe, that pics pretty impressive, wasn't it something like 2003 we had that happen to satellite reception due to an X-flare? My memories shit, I'm sure it was talked about in that documentary yesterday
