At that time the church declared that this commemoration was not of Roman tradition, in view of the relatively late date (about 1550) and limited manner in which it was accepted into the Roman calendar,[4] but his feast is still observed locally.[5] There are several legends associated with the life and death of Saint Christopher, which first appear in Greece, perhaps in the 6th century, and had spread to France by the 9th century. The 11th century writer Walter of Speyer gives one version, but the most popular variations originate from the 13th century Golden Legend.[6] According to the legendary account of his life Christopher was a Canaanite 5 cubits (7.5 feet (2.3 m)) tall and with a fearsome face. While serving the king of Canaan, he took it into his head to go and serve "the greatest king there was". He went to the king who was reputed to be the greatest, but one day he saw the king cross himself at the mention of the devil. On thus learning that the king feared the devil, he departed to look for the devil. He came across a band of marauders, one of whom declared himself to be the devil, so Christopher decided to serve him. But when he saw his new master avoid a wayside cross and found out that the devil feared Christ, he left him and enquired from people where to find Christ. He met a hermit who instructed him in the Christian faith. Christopher asked him how he could serve Christ. When the hermit suggested fasting and prayer, Christopher replied that he was unable to perform that service. The hermit then suggested that because of his size and strength Christopher could serve Christ by assisting people to cross a dangerous river, where they were perishing in the attempt. The hermit promised that this service would be pleasing to Christ. After Christopher had performed this service for some time, a little child asked him to take him across the river. During the crossing, the river became swollen and the child seemed as heavy as lead, so much that Christopher could scarcely carry him and found himself in great difficulty. When he finally reached the other side, he said to the child: "You have put me in the greatest danger. I do not think the whole world could have been as heavy on my shoulders as you were. " The child replied: "You had on your shoulders not only the whole world but Him who made it. I am Christ your king, whom you are serving by this work." THIS IS A TRUE STORY TOO... Some people seek after signs and wonders because they want confirmation of the truth of God. There is nothing inherently wrong with this desire. In fact, God willingly gave signs to Moses (Exodus 4:1-9) and Gideon (Judges 6:11-22) to confirm His word. Miracles can aid a person’s coming to faith, as in John 2:23, “Many people saw the miraculous signs he was doing and believed in his name.

When Moses hesitated to obey after a series of miracles at the burning bush, “the LORD’s anger burned” (Exodus 4:14). I WAS TOLD THE TEACHING, WAS OVER AND THERE WOULD BE NO MIRACLES IT IS THE TIME FOR YOU TO SHOW YOUR FAITH... Also, it is nobler in God’s sight to believe without needing a miracle. Jesus visited the Samaritans, and “because of his words many more became believers” (John 4:41, emphasis added). Just a few verses later, Jesus rebukes the Galileans: “Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders . . . you will never believe” (John 4:48). Unlike the Samaritans, the people of Galilee required signs and wonders. SO YOU NEED A MIRACLE TO HAVE FAITH... IF SO THEN YOU WILL NEVER BECOME A BROTHER... Some people seek after signs and wonders because they do not believe the signs and wonders which have already been performed. The Pharisees of Matthew 12 were just such a lot. Jesus had been performing miracles for quite some time when a group of scribes and Pharisees came to Him with an insolent demand to see another sign. In response, Jesus condemned them as “wicked and adulterous” (Matthew 12:38-39). They were “wicked” in that they refused to believe the signs and wonders Christ had already performed. “In spite of his wonders, they did not believe” (Psalm 78:32). Their hearts were hardened towards the truth, even after numerous public miracles. Nothing would make them believe; their hearts were as pharaoh’s, hardened after witnessing so many of Moses’ miracles in Egypt (Exodus 9:34-35). They were “adulterous” in the spiritual sense, having left the true worship of God to follow a man-made set of rules and traditions. Not satisfied with the miracles Jesus was doing, they demanded something even greater. As commentator Matthew Barnes puts it, “They looked for signs of their own devising.” So entrenched was their rejection of Christ that, when later presented with the “sign of the prophet Jonah” (Christ’s resurrection, Matthew 12:39-40), they still would not believe. Some people seek after signs and wonders because they seek an occasion to excuse their unbelief. There were people in Jesus’ day who “tested” Him by seeking a sign (Matthew 16:1; Luke 11:16). Since they specified that the sign be “from heaven,” they most likely wanted something spectacular, similar to Elijah’s calling down fire from the sky (1 Kings 18:38) or Isaiah’s causing the sun to reverse course (Isaiah 38:8). Probably, their “test” was designed to be something “too big” for Jesus to accomplish—they simply hoped He would attempt it and fail in the attempt. Some people seek after signs and wonders because they are curious thrill-seekers. Like the crowds in John 6:2 and King Herod in Luke 23:8, they want to see something sensational, but they have no real desire to know the truth of Christ. Some people seek after signs and wonders because they hope to get something for themselves. After Jesus fed the multitudes, a large crowd followed Him to the other side of Galilee. Jesus saw their true motivation, however, and rebuked it: “I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill” (John 6:26). The crowd’s desire was not to know Christ or even to see more miracles; it was simply to fill their stomachs again. Better than seeking after a new miracle is taking God at His Word. Simple faith is more pleasing to the Lord than a reliance on a dazzling sensory experience. “Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed’” (John 20:29). AS IS SAID I AM HERE TO SEE WHAT YOU KNOW ABOUT GOD... IF A MIRACLE IS NEEDED IT WILL BE GIVEN... BUT THIS IS ABOUT YOUR LEARNING AND WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED OVER THE EONS... I HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE WORD AND THAT PUTS FOOLS IN THEIR PLACE... BY JUST USING THE TRUE WORD OF GOD... I OPEN THE EYES OF THE BLIND... THE GREATEST MIRACLE PERFORMED... I TURN THAT RED WINE BACK INTO CLEAR WATER... THAT"S GREATER THAN TURNING WATER INTO WINE... THE WINE MADE DRUNKARDS THE WATER MAKES BROTHERS... UNDERSTAND THIS... BY THE WORD OF GOD ONLY... YOUR HOLY BOOKS TELL YOU FOR A FACT IN THE END TIMES THIS AGE WILL BE WON BY THE SPIRIT NOT MIRACLES... IN FACT THERE ARE NO MIRACLES THERE ARE ONLY GIFTS... Verse 38(/ /) says, "Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, 'Teacher, we want to see a miraculous sign from you.'" In the preceding passage, the Pharisees committed the unforgivable sin of blaspheming against the Holy Spirit. In this passage they came to Jesus and asked him to perform a miraculous sign. How did Jesus reply? Verse 39 says, "He answered, 'A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah." The Pharisees were miracle-seeking people and to those kind of people Jesus says that no miraculous sign will be given them except the sign of the prophet Jonah. Jesus opposes miracle-seeking people because they are wicked, self-centered, and lazy people who have no desire to do the work of God. They think that miracles are a circus act for their own entertainment. The world is full of these kind of people. ARE YOU ONE KING? Luke 8:52-56: "Now they were all weeping and lamenting for her; but He said, ‘Stop weeping, for she has not died, but is asleep.' And they began laughing at Him, knowing that she had died. He, however, took her by the hand and called, saying, ‘Child, arise!' And her spirit returned, and she rose immediately; and He gave orders for something to be given her to eat. And her parents were amazed; but He (Jesus) instructed them to tell no one what had happened." Luke 5:12-14: "And it came about that while He was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man full of leprosy; and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, ‘Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.' And He stretched out His hand, and touched him, saying, ‘I am willing; be cleansed.' And immediately the leprosy left him. And He (Jesus) ordered him to tell no one, ‘But go and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, just as Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.'" Matthew 9:28-30: "And after He had come into the house, the blind men came up to Him, and Jesus said to them, ‘Do you believe that I am able to do this?' They said to Him, ‘Yes, Lord.' Then He touched their eyes, saying, ‘Be it done to you according to your faith.' And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, saying, ‘See here, let no one know about this!'" Isn't it amazing that Jesus would perform such awesome miracles and then instruct them to tell no one!? There was only one reason for Jesus to do miracles, He needed to fulfill the Old Testament Scriptures written about Him in order to identify Himself as the Expected One -- the Deliverer -- to those who were already seeking God's Deliverer. 11 11 Time prompts
I am interested to know if anyone else on here is experiencing the 11 11 time prompts. I have been noticing them for around a year now.
I always seem to loot at clocks at exactly 11 11 every day. And often I will turn to look at something with a digital clock or timer and it will be on 11 11 just as I look at it and will then change. Or I look at a clock or computer time and it will say 11 11 although that is not the time. Sometimes when I close my eyes I see 11 11 in blue light which disappears in a second or two. I thought it was a little strange and amused myself with it last year every time I noticed but then someone I knew last year that they saw the 11 11 prompts too and when I looked on line it turns out this is a bit of a phenomenon. Does anyone know anything or have thoughts on this? |

Colorado fire tops 55,000 acres, could spread with hot, windy weather
By the CNN Wire Staff...  (CNN) -- Authorities warned of high temperatures and strong winds Sunday as hundreds of firefighters battle a northern Colorado blaze that has destroyed almost 200 homes. A warning is in effect until 8 p.m. local time, fire officials said, with temperatures expected to be in the 90s and wind gusts of up to 50 mph. The High Park Fire is west of Fort Collins, and has burned more than 55,000 acres so far. It is about 45% contained. It has destroyed at least 181 homes, according to a statement posted on InciWeb, a U.S. multiagency fire response website. "The assessment is still under way and this number will continue to grow," the statement said. The blaze has moved through forests and neighborhoods, forcing thousands of evacuations and leaving a trail of destruction. It has claimed one life, a 62-year-old woman found dead in her burned home last week. "It will be some time before this fire is out, but our challenge now is to make sure we do everything to contain the damage," said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, who oversees the Forest Service. Vilsack toured the Colorado blaze and said it is one of thousands burning nationwide. The National Weather Service has issued warnings of high chances of wildfire activity in nine states, including Colorado. In New Mexico, the Whitewater Baldy complex has scorched more than 290,000 acres, the agriculture secretary said. Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper said a tree struck by lightning about a week ago sparked the mammoth blaze in his state. Hundreds of firefighters from across the United States are helping local departments battle the blaze. Inciweb reports 1,631 personnel on site. Those people shouldn't even be living in the fire zone..those fires have been burning hot for millions of years...you saying you make the fire's burn hot?...I say your picking up disasters and making them yours ..you're a heretic..
