I can't believe this is happening
I can't believe all these people are sniffing each other & backing away teeth grinning hair raised, growling, here in the slaughtered wind Do you dare deny my potency my kindness or forgiveness? Camel caravans bear witness guns to Caesar. Hordes crawl and seep inside the walls. The streets flow stone. Life goes on absorbing war. Violence kills the temple of no sex. Cool pools from a tired land sink now in the peace of evening Clouds weaken and die. The sun, an orange skull, whispers quietly, becomes an island, & is gone. There they are watching us everything will be dark. The light changed. We were aware knee-deep in the fluttering air as the ships move on trains in their wake. This is it no more fun the death of all joy has come. http://forum.davidicke.com/showthrea...155137&page=19 |

Exactly who operates the Village is deliberately obscured. At first glance, it appears to be run by Communist types, suggesting it is a holding cell for captured western agents. Later on it appears to be operating with some assistance from British Intelligence, implying that it is a holding area for western agents who have been compromised, or are feared to be untrustworthy by their own agencies. Several of the Number Twos in the course of the show appear to be unclear as to whom they are actually working for, and one explicitly says, "It doesn't matter which side we're working for, my boy! This is the future: one great big happy global Village." Another Number Two implies that both East and West are covertly operating the Village together for unknown reasons. The overall impression given by the series is that some kind of nebulous organisation is manipulating all the Cold War powers for its own ends. Weapons, alcohol, and tools are forbidden in the Village, but there are no walls or visible barriers to prevent escape, and no apparent prison guards. Indeed, aside from Number Two functioning as warden, the Village at first appears to have no real security infrastructure. This is merely a ruse, however, as subsequent episodes reveal that many of the other people in the Village are, in fact, warders planted unobtrusively in the community and reporting back to the current Number Two. It is strongly implied that "They" (the never-revealed masters of the Village) have several plants in the Village as well, whose identities are unknown to Number Two, and who report back to Them directly; one of the more sadistic Number Twos (seen in "Hammer Into Anvil") is particularly paranoid about this possibility...Although not acknowledged as being inspired by The Village, the fictional town of Storybrooke in the 2011 TV series Once Upon a Time features some similarities to The Village, most notably the fact its residents are (usually) prevented from physically leaving the town. http://forum.davidicke.com/showthread.php?t=210951 http://forum.davidicke.com/showthread.php?t=123670 http://forum.davidicke.com/showpost....&postcount=267 Last edited by lightgiver; 23-05-2012 at 09:11 PM. |

Country Joe And The Fish Bass Strings Section 43 (from youtube) This video features 60's footage from Joshua Light Show, who provided the incredible lighting for Country Joe and the Fish, as well as all the other groups that performed at New York's Fillmore East. I've mixed down about a dozen pieces of footage for this video, so sit back and enjoy. Country Joe and the Fish, were one of the first of the San Francisco Bay Area psychedelic bands to make it onto vinyl. Vanguard Records of NYC produced a handful of their albums, and the best were the first two, of which (the first), "Electric Music For The Mind And Body" contained several very heady works, notably 'Section 43', 'Grace', and 'Bass Strings'. I recall 'listening' to these tracks late into the night on many auspicious occasions. I bought this copy new in 1967, and this is the mono version, released long before the stereo version, and mono LPs were 2/3 the price of the stereo copies. Back then, the mono releases were the intended mix by the artists and producers, where as the stereo mixes were a marketing afterthought, until stereo finally became accepted as a valid medium. |

from youtube: This incredible album was released in July 1966, I bought this copy in November 1966. Every one of the 14 tracks on this record rocks. There are good write-ups on the group and this album here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_(band) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_(Love_album) Last edited by indolering; 26-06-2012 at 06:56 AM. |

from youtube: 'Aquarius/Let The Sun Shine In' by The Fifth Dimension, was a hit song in the sixties, with very intuitive lyrics, that carry great symbolism & significance in the times now at hand. You are under arrest. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say or do can and will be held against you in a court of law. You have the right to speak to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you. Do you understand these rights as they have been read to you? ![]() ![]() The astrology the song details at the beginning is... not informed. It's a great tune. One of the best. But an age doesn't start with the moon in 7th house and Jupiter aligning with Mars, as these events all happen many times each year. Still, I guess it heightens the mystery the song seeks to evoke. this song is fun to sing when you are drunk at karaoke....

The first two cuts from Jimi's Bold As Love album, 1968 Jimi from youtube: I'm not sure what your question is. I said it was bad he died at 27, but now he's immortal. Perpetually 27 forever. It's like this ... Jimmy Page will always be known as that old guy from Zeppelin that wrote some great stuff. BUT if Page had died right after Led Zepp 4 he would've been immortalized because people wouldn't have known what else he could've been capable of. Hendrix will never be that old guy that had some great music back in the 60's. He'll be 27 forever. He's immortal. |

The two great minstrels of the Sixties, one from America, the other from Britain. Donovan - Season Of The Witch Dylan - It's All Over Now, Baby Blue You must leave now, take what you need, you think will last. But whatever you wish to keep, you better grab it fast. Yonder stands your orphan with his gun, Crying like a fire in the sun. Look out the saints are comin' through And it's all over now, Baby Blue. The highway is for gamblers, better use your sense. Take what you have gathered from coincidence. The empty-handed painter from your streets Is drawing crazy patterns on your sheets. This sky, too, is folding under you And it's all over now, Baby Blue. All your seasick sailors, they are rowing home. All your reindeer armies, are all going home. The lover who just walked out your door Has taken all his blankets from the floor. The carpet, too, is movin' under you And it's all over now, Baby Blue. Leave your stepping stones behind, something calls for you. Forget the dead you've left, they will not follow you. The vagabond who's rapping at your door Is standing in the clothes that you once wore. Strike another match, go start anew And it's all over now, Baby Blue. |
