Over 100 NYPD Officers Refuse to Work in Support of Occupy Wall Street Movement

September 27, 2011 - TAMPA, FL - In a bizarre twist of fate, a growing movement of New York City Police Department officers are banding together with the Occupy Wall Street movement, while the main stream media continues to relatively ignore this escalating event.

The Occupy Wall Street movement issued the following statement on their website:

"Today we received unconfirmed reports that over one hundred blue collar police refused to come into work in solidarity with our movement. These numbers will grow. We are the 99 percent. You will not silence us."

Throughout human history, it is exceedingly rare when police (defenders of central power) abandoned their posts to support their populace against those they have sworn to protect. In fact it's so rare that I will wait for further evidence before believing what this report is stating.

generally they seem to believe in boosting their ego by lording their percieved power over others.

but they are still human beings and these lot seem to have some backbone and stand up for what they believe in, either that or they just wanted a day off work

There are a lot more protests going on in the U.S., with a big one on October 6th, 2011 in Washington, D.C.. It'd be cool if the police from other cities joined in on the movement!

Good cops believe in safety in the community and that sort of thing. Unfortunately the bad cops outnumber the good ones.

That would be cool! If they're involved in a march with the protesters, I'd love it if they would wear their uniforms. That would be a powerful sight for the masses IF the media decides to cover it.

One of the major news networks here (I think it was MSNBC) had a story about the WS protests a couple of days ago. They read a statement from the Police representative saying that the reason they were cracking down on the protesters, using pepper spray and what not, was because they were out in the road blocking traffic and commerce. What was funny was the video images showed the Police spraying the protesters who were behind orange fences on the sidewalks, before dragging them out into the road and beating them. That right there is New York's finest, right?

This is the kind of thing that DI has predicted and we've been waiting for. Not all police and military, etc, are inhuman monsters. I believe that, when it gets crazy enough against the people, more of this will happen. Thanks so much for posting and I'd like to see more of this.
