Our unconditional inner peace is increased by removing fear and confusion. Changing the direction of the mind away from fear and confusion towards inner peace can be done by practicing mental and emotional control. By retraining our minds fear and confusion are transformed into inner peace.

At first the inner peace will not be unconditional. Because our minds are trained to operate on fear and confusion. So in the beginning the mind has to be trained to operate in a new way, which means the training is conditional although the result is unconditional. When the training is complete the inner peace is effortless, but to get there may require some effort.

Yes! The change can be done step by step. Slowly and with only little progress at first until a momentum builds up which will accelerate the progress. So even if we have zero inner peace to start with it's enough to take tiny steps in the beginning.

One interesting thing with unconditional peace is that it is independent of conditional peace as well as worry. Imagine a scale going from maximum worry to maximum conditional peace. Unconditional peace is not on that scale! Instead, unconditional peace is an additional dimension. This can be illustrated by the triangle in the picture below. Worry and conditional peace are on the horizontal scale while unconditional peace is on the vertical scale:

Unconditional peace is of course not dependent on religion, but there is an interesting mentioning of something similar in the Bible:
"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." -- Philippians 4:4-7 The peace that transcends all understanding. Is that the same as unconditional peace? At least it is very similar. Unconditional peace is not dependent on understanding. We can understand what unconditional peace is, and that peace can perhaps be reached by understanding what it is, but the peace itself is not dependent on the understanding of it. Another passage from the quote: Do not be anxious about anything. The understanding of the unconditional peace makes it possible to detach from the grip of anxiety. The passage "Present your requests to God" could be interpreted from an agnostic viewpoint as meaning an outsourcing of one's requests to the power of the universe. Let's say that I don't have enough money. I can then either act out of worry and try to solve my problem that way, or I can move into unconditional peace and let that move be the way of how I deal with the situation. In the first way of dealing with the problem - out of worry - I will likely have to struggle, while in the other approach of moving into unconditional peace I let the universe come up with a solution that then will be presented to my mind effortlessly. |

An example of how unconditional peace transcends understanding is peace about the future. For there to be complete conditional peace about the future, the mind would have to know how to deal will all possible future situations! That would be an immensely burdensome task if it even would be possible. With unconditional peace on the other hand there is no need to understand anything about the future. In that sense unconditional peace transcends understanding.

David Icke and others have talked about how we are consciousness which in turn is everything that is. That is true I think and it is related to unconditional peace. Infinite consciousness doesn't need to worry.
Carl Johan Calleman has described how humanity will move to a state of unity consciousness. I think that that is also true. Our ordinary consciousness at the moment is the ego/separation consciousness. We need to let go of that if we want to move into unconditional peace. And that's unity consciousness! In unity consciousness there will still be the ability to experience separation of things of course. For example if I would reach unity consciousness then my personal money will still be separate from Mark Zuckerberg's money! BUT I would not be worried about my financial situation in the same way as in ego consciousness. Yes, my money is separate from other people's money but really everything is ONE unity movement and that is what is realized with unity consciousness. My true identity in unity consciousness is as a unique facet of the One/Everything. Not like the Borgs in Star Trek ![]() but unity consciousness with preserved unique personal individuality.Calleman talks about the Mayan end date as being October 28 this year. I guess he means that at least a seed of unity consciousness will start then. Could be possible! The process of evolution is definitely accelerating and Calleman's interpretation of the Mayan calendar is similar to Terence McKenna's Time Wave theory and even similar to Ray Kurzweil's singularity theory. Kurzweil talks about a singularity that will happen some decades into the future, but he has only taken the material/technological progress into consideration. When we look at evolution as a whole, then the singularity may in reality happen around 2012. |

Is unconditional peace something real that can be experienced in practice? A scientific method is to put forth a hypothesis in the form of a theory and then test that theory to see if it matches observed reality.
One theory is that unity consciousness is possible. On some level everything is connected so in theory a state of unity consciousness could be possible. The next part of the theory is that with unity consciousness comes unconditional peace. This is also something that can be possible since in unity consciousness there is the experience of being one with everything which should remove the total belief in anxiety and bring unconditional peace. Ok, so that's the theory. The next step is to test the theory. To really test it, we have to do the test ourselves since we cannot really know unity consciousness unless we reach that state ourselves. So the test is the attempt to take a step from our current level of separation consciousness to a new state of unity consciousness. And then check if that also brings unconditional peace. How to take the step from separation consciousness to unity consciousness? Here we can use the theory of unconditional peace. If we can achieve unconditional peace then it should mean that we also have reached unity consciousness since for true unconditional peace there cannot be any things or events separate from oneself to worry about. In practice, then, taking the step towards unity consciousness means the detachment from the previous step of separation consciousness, which in turn means letting go of worry. So what to do with the worry? The answer is: drop it, drop it, drop it.

Isn't worry necessary and useful? Yes, very possibly so, in SEPARATION CONSCIOUSNESS! It seems reasonable to assume that worry indeed serves a useful and necessary purpose in separation consciousness.
Is worry needed in UNITY consciousness? Yes, but in a different way. Imagine that you are playing a video game and are worrying about what next move to do. That kind of worry is entertainment. You can even worry about spending money in the video game even though the money is just something that isn't real and only a part of the game. The difference between unity consciousness and ordinary separation consciousness is that the worry isn't serious in unity consciousness. |

In the movie The Matrix they escaped from one state of separation consciousness into another reality that still was a state of separation consciousness.
Our current state of separation consciousness as humans can be seen as a form of Matrix. If so, then the unplugging from the real Matrix leads to unity consciousness, not to another separation consciousness as in the movies. So the real red pill leads to unity consciousness. ![]() ![]() Accepting worry as being serious is the blue pill.

J. Krishnamurti said: "The observer is the observed." That's a description of unity consciousness! In unity consciousness the observer is the observed because we then see everything as being a single unit. It's very simple.
Short video clips with Krishnamurti: And here is the Dalai Lama talking about how we can't buy peace of mind at the supermarket: |

A powerful method for increasing inner peace is to use biofeedback with the mind as the instrument. I can observe the worry in me. That's VERY easy.
And I know that I want to move from worry to inner peace. That's definitely more difficult. But instead of trying to block myself from the worry it now becomes a useful and valuable feedback signal. The mind then more easily accepts the worry and uses it to increase the inner peace.Feedback control is commonly used in science and technology, such as: |

The slightly trickier part is how the observed can be the same as the observer. It becomes easy when we look at it from the perspective of unity consciousness which I take as meaning consciousness being able to see how everything is interconnected into one reality, one unity. We are not separate from what we observe. And since we are not separate from what we observe we ARE what we observe. The observer is the observed. If I observe Barack Obama, then my mind is the observer and Obama the observed. If the observer is the observed is then my mind Barack Obama? In ordinary separation consciousness Obama is of course separate from me BUT in unity consciousness, where everything is experienced as a single unity, a wholeness, then my mind and Obama are a part of the same wholeness which means the observer and the observed belong to the same one reality and therefore are one and the same. |
