Default Regular sleep patterns.

My apologies if by any chance this post is Incoherent as i haven't been to sleep yet, I'm attempting to stay up until later tonight, so i can restore my sleep patterns.

Over the past month or so, my sleep patterns have been all but destroyed. So I have found myself going to sleep really early in the morning and waking up rather late in the afternoon. It seems to have taken a great toll on my energy levels, made me look zombie-like and just generally made me feel like complete shite! Physically and Mentally.

I'm curious to know if anyone could clear up a few questions for me.

1) How Important is it to maintain regular sleeping patterns? + What's the best time for the human body to shut off at night and turn back on in the morning?

2) How long will it take for my body and mind to restore to 'normal' levels.

3) How much Stress does it cause the body? What are the health risks over time?

If you know anything else that may be of some importance, to help me feel refreshed from sleep, please let me know.
As sometimes.. I feel worse when i wake up, then before going sleep

I don't know if this information would be of any use for advice, but
the only drugs i take are cigarettes, and a Occasional beer couple of times a month.

Thanks in Advance.

Since mid-April this year I was surplussed from my employer, so since then I can do what the f**k I want anytime I want... including staying up thru the night... I prefer staying up at night as I'm a "night owl" ... It's quieter during the night... no sirens, no heavy traffic, no hot humid day. No drunk young people hollering on the streets... just quietness. Right now it's 4:45 a.m. (Central Daylight Time) and the only noises are the sparrows chirping and some very minimal car traffic blocks away.

Go with the flo... Society is told that being a night owl is somehow wrong or bad, but if it is natural to you don't worry about it.

I've got things i want to and have to do through out the day, which i can't do throughout the night.

+ I much prefer the day, especially sunny ones

and it's not nice missing one.

Dito that.

i always work better at night, for some reason...... would rather sleep in the day, things seem to come online at night - even the world seems more palitable at night time

shopping certainly has its benefits after midnight

I'm certainly a night creature.

Since my post in 2011 I have found a source of Melatonin in a bottle, and since late March 2012 have taken 3 mg every night.

Melatonin hormone is only produced during the night and during a darkened room.

I was up during the night and couldn't sleep. I would wake up at 3 a.m. or 4 a.m. and would then fall back asleep and wakup at 11 a.m.

So since March 2012 I have been taking this capsule which is available over the counter.

Been sleeping normally since then.

Melatonin is produced in the Pineal gland which is our mind's eye. It helps us see the other dimension, sleep better, slow down aging, prevent auto-immune disease (I have type 2 diabetes).

While I'm wrting this I am listening to an interview on the properties and importance of Melatonin hormone.

SHR # 969 - BEST OF - Anti-Aging Pill For Pennies A Day: Melatonin
Thursday, 10 May 2012 09:22

Guest: Dr. Russell Reiter

After yesterdays show I received several emails asking about the original interview with Dr. Reiter I did in 2007. Many topics not covered yesterday where covered in this original interview that points to the notion that we can all benefit from Melatonin supplementation.

I currently live downtown neibourhood but will be moving soon. There is alot of street lighting nearby and until recently didn't put any cover on my b'drom window because I liked the view of nearby apartments out
side my window.

When I take a Melatonin capsule it takes about 90 minutes before I start to feel really sleepy. And getting about 8 1/2 hours of sleep each night instead of broken durations.

Ideal sleep patern is 8-9 hrs. sleep from 9:30-10:00pm onwards.
Your body will be healthier & you will have more energy.
Being up in the night will eventually lead to illness in most people.

When I was unemployed I got addicted to staying up at night listening to Coast 2 Coast. Now that I am working I cannot seem to break this addiction. Getting through a workday as a programmer is really tough. I've tried going to bed and not turning the radio, even subscribing to their download feature, but I lay awake wonder what tonight's show is about and what I am missing.

An important thread!

Getting good quality sleep is absolutely imperative. It is essential to getting through the next day with the energy both physically and psychologically.

I suffer a type of sleep insomnia, due to being a high stress individual. It's the falling off to sleep that's hard for me. Melatonin is very good and it is important to have a good bed with proper back support, no sleeping on the couch. You need to rotate and turn the mattress over occasionally too to not make an imprint pattern the springs that fits your body. Room temperature should be cool but comfortable imo

Do not ignore the symptoms of sleep apnea. I found out I had it and was having 57 sleep arousals an hour, essentially waking up partially, every minute!
If roommates tell you you are snoring loud, that might be an indication of airway obstruction and apnea

That will stop you from going into the normal alpha-delta theta sleep patterns that you need to recharge.

I often wonder how harmful that electromagnetic waves from radio towers, elf, tv, cable routers and microwaves are screwing us up. I am considering taking my small bedroom and putting up grounding blankets connected to a proper earth ground. No, I don't wear a tin foil hat

Footnote: the other poster is right about some people being night owls and others morning types, everyone's different. I do my peak work performance between 11 am and 6pm

Default Did you ever consider this?

Multi-source microwave radiating your brain is show to cause sleep problems in military documents... how many sources are in your home, perhaps by your night stand (where your cordless phone is) etc.

Awesome link btw

cellphones, smart appliances, covert utility empowerment over peoples property, using home internet routers to 'see' into rooms and microwave slow kill, lots of info!

It is best to sleep over night so that you wake up with the sun. A regular pattern is good. If you are sleeping in the day it can be ok for some time but the main problem is changing the routine (especially when sick). Sleeping in the day will cause problems with vitamin d deficiency from lack of sunlight. Sunlight is important to change sleeping times like if you travel and get jet lag getting out in the sun helps the body know when day time is. Computer screen is producing a lot of light and makes the body think it is daytime and stops you getting tired. If you want to go to bed it is best to switch off the computer some time before. If you have light coming into the room in the morning it will wake you up at the right time but this can cause problems with street lighting keeping you awake at night. It is nice to have a good view with lots of light out the windows. This is something I am just reexperiencing after some time in inner city ground floor and the sun in the moring is wonderful and I am thinking it is a waste to live somewhere you don't get lots of light coming in. Sunlight kills many things like virus's etc. You don'y get bacteria or fungus growing in sunny locations as sunlight will kill them and I reckon the body also benefits from the solar radiation in getting rid of things like virus's and bacteria, fungus even internally.

You can just listen to an old show from the archives one day and then listen to yesterdays show subsequent days. That way you don't need to stay up all night. http://www.coasttocoastam.com/shows/archive

i believe we are evolved in a way which means that waking up when its light is natural, staying up all night and missing the day is not the ideal way for your body and brain in my opinion.

I agree.

Although at times when I feel the creative urge come on and the moon is full I find it difficult to sleep so instead I'll get up and go paint a picture.
