A chain of volcanoes has erupted in southern Chile, forcing the evacuation of thousands of residents.

Large columns of smoke have been rising from the Puyehue-Cordon-Caulle volcano range, about 800km (500 miles) south of the capital Santiago.
A chain?

I wonder if they can operate their aircraft in south america now, or if an evil ash cloud will close down all airports.

How long before the caldera in Yellowstone goes up I wonder?

It's certainly due.

So imagine there were no means for you to know this information. You're now shaking with fear and thinking the end is nigh, right? In the meantime life passes by and you don't even notice it, not that you can notice it anyway!

Happy fears! Fear is the only true feeling you'll ever have, enjoy it!

You'd think volcanoes would have signs around their base saying building settlements nearby wasn't a very good idea.

Never said I feared this stuff, just helping to spread the world. Choosing not to be ignorant does not mean you have to be fearful.

If there was such sign it should have been put up in Naples, when that goes up it could kill over a million even by Pompeii standards. It has gone up before making the Pompeii eruption look like a champaign cork.

There is also the monstrous supervolcano Campi Flegrei which could kill most of Europe.
