Great thread, here's some from me,

Elbow covering Teardrop on the Fire:

Two from the Stone Roses cos I ♥ them too much to pick between them (I struggled to narrow it down that far lol):

I am the Ressurestion:

I wanna be adored:

And Ian Brown on his own. Golden Gaze:

AND the Dolphins were Monkeys (again I was struggling to choose ).:

Hmmm my choices are a little heavy on the Ian Brown but I'm very into his stuff at the moment so it's not surprising, I was going to put some more by other bands but I'll stop so there's some songs left for other people to pick

Don't know why they're using the artwork for the 1988 remix there - but at least it's the original mix being played.

Hey good to see ya dude! I was wondering if anybody would post anything by the BeeGees as most people dont realise they were Manchester lads, good man...I'll have to check that site out I'll learn something there myself no doubt. I noticed you posted a Chemical Brothers track later in the thread and I must admit I didn't know they were Manc's (English term for Manchester folk)...

Sorry mates. I'll try not to break the rules...

from:http://www.prideofmanchester.com/mus...alBrothers.htm

"Being in Manchester to me was basically about music, you can consume it there easily. There were great record shops, the Hacienda was at its peak then and it was a time to get really excited about music. It taught me a lot." -ED SIMONS
Current line up: Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons

Southerners, Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands met whilst studying History at Manchester Metropolitan University in 1989. Primarily it was for the music that they came to Manchester and they enjoyed the student lifestyle at such venues as The Hacienda, Most Excellent and Spice.

The two New Order fans got together and DJ'd under the name of 'The Dust Brothers' in 1992, kick-starting an amazing career that has seen them become one of the most influential acts of the '90's. The Dust Brothers' groundbreaking first track, "Song To The Siren", mixed breakbeats, sirens and Madchester indie vocals. However it was their 1994 "14th Century Sky" and "My Mercury Mouth" EPs that earned Tom and Ed the reputation of best remixers in the business. Work came their way from the likes of The Manic Street Preachers, Primal Scream, The Prodigy and Saint Etienne whilst their remixes of The Charlatans' "Chemical Risk" and "Patrol" highlighted their ability to tackle any style of music.

After a name change to 'The Chemical Brothers' in 1995, their debut album, "Exit Planet Dust". sold over a million copies World-wide, spawning the UK Top 20 singles, "Leave Home" and "Life Is Sweet" (which included guest vocals from The Charlatans' Tim Burgess.

But they met and started DJing and making music in the city while they were Manchester University students. They even completed their degrees at the uni when they were already hitting the big time on the Manchester music scene.

That bit is wrong. They met at the University of Manchester (the 'proper' one ), not the MMU (which is the former poly).

I should know, since I was at the Uni at the time.

They were influenced by Justin Robertson, another University of Manchester student turned Hacienda DJ.
