Anyway... ...It mentioned taking six cod liver oil capsules a day and I'm just wondering what the mg dose that is? I bought some today, they're 1000mg each. How many should I take? The bottle says only one a day and don't exceed the dose but that sounds like nonesense. I'm familiar with a guy called Dennis the Chemist who specialises in herbal medicine and he always talks about massive doses and says there's nothing wrong with them too. So is there a mg per day you'd reccomend? Is there anything else you'd reccomend for detoxing from processed food, especially for the pituitary gland? I'm eating a mostly paleolithic diet now so there's no more bad going in, I just want to undo what's already been done. Thanks in advance ![]() |

Recomended deose sp for anything scares me. Back in the day how does nature expect someone from the middle of america to eat 1200 mg of cod liver oil? I f it didn't come with original local food. Don't worry about it.

Pretty much any meat/fish/fruit/nuts and none starchy veg. No dairy, nothing farmed (like cereal crops/legumes) and definitely nothing that's ever seen the inside of a factory. This is a pretty informative but not very pretty website with some articles and links... http://paleodiet.com/ At first you do get a bit of a bleugh slump because all the processed carbs and sugars vanish but once you get used to it you feel lighter and bouncy and way more healthy. I do cheat though and add potatoes every now and then because I need the energy but the day after you really feel it. |

When I saw it, I thought... what happens if you eat loads of cod? Surely there's more than that in there.

Just wondered if anyone has considered Flaxseed oil as an alternative to Cod Liver Oil bearing in mind the possible contaminants like PCB's and Mercury that Cod Liver Oil can contain. And the fact that Cod are grossly overfished.
Flaxseed oil is far superior to Cod Liver Oil, it contains more Omega 3 and Omega 6. Flaxseed oil also contains the highest proportion of Lignans. It is also a good source of Magnesium, Phosphorus, Copper, Thiamin, B1 and Manganese along with traces of Vitamin C, E, K, Riboflavin, Niacin, Folate, Pantothenic Acid, Calcium, Iron, Potassium, Sodium, Zinc, and Selenium. But you don't eat the Cod liver which is where the Oil comes from.

Just stopped taking cod liver oil (the liquid) it's so hard to stomach no matter what I mix it with, almost sick every time! so gonna stick to me pack of flaxseed (10.00? in h&b) or maybe try the cod liver oil capsules, take like 5 a day.

omg, how come i never thought of that either? Cod Liver Oil comes from the cod's liver. yikes!
I just recently bought a bottle cos it is supposed to be good for teeth enamel. I have only managed to make myself have a teaspoonful at a time. Only 2 so far. ... It is so hard and yukky to swallow. Eeek! I forced myself. but... I dont know what to do, should i have it or not? Have I wasted money, or am I just a scaredycat for not taking it. |

I am not being sarcastic when I say that I would never have even thought of that. College doesn't teach you everything LOL. I don't like any kind of liver, and CLO is pretty stinky isn't it? I can't stand fish oil capsules at all. I used to use ground flax seeds in foods but my family started a mutiny so I had to give that up.

Go for the capsules. Even just one a day will be very beneficial.
The best way to take them is just before a meal, then there's no chance for any aftertaste. I wouldn't like to take the liquid from a spoon, but some people don't mind, so maybe you can give your bottle to somebody who appreciates it. I have fed cod liver oil to my dog and to my horse. It's great for them, too, and makes their coat really shiny.

( I dont think my cat will like it, but i can try. ) I will find someone who appreciates it, like you said. |

Twice I tried, and felt like being sick before I could even swallow it, I washed it down with tomato juice mixed with Lea & Perrin's Worcester Sauce, and that got rid of the feeling and yukky taste. I have only tried it twice, but cant force myself to try it again. Maybe my body knows best. ![]() Thanks for saying I am not a scaredycat .

They tell you not to exceed the dose for a reason. You don't want to do it, especially if you're a woman. Take notice of the instructions on the bottle and not what the owner of a conspiracy website says.

What brand of cod liver oil is among the best to get there is that stuff from the USA but that £30 a bottle is this any good although that seems to be cheap.
