Default Black Sabbath - What does it mean?

What does the name of the band REALLY mean?

Here is a partial list from Wikipedia, there might be more:

Black Sabbath can refer to:
  • , a British heavy metal band
    • , their first album
      • , its title track
  • , the 1946 British arrests of Jewish paramilitaries sometimes referred to as the Black Sabbath
  • , 1963 film
  • Black Sabbath, another name for Shabbat Chazon, the Sabbath immediately preceding the Jewish fast day of Tisha B'Av
  • Black Sabbath (Ritual): A fictional Satanic ritual (See )

To a Christian, it probably means the Satanic Ritual.

To a Jew, it probably means, Shabbat Chazon.

To a heavy metal fan, it probably means the band.

To a film maker in 1963 it meant the film.

To the policemen that arrested the Jewish paramilitaries it probably means those people.

To a tribesmen in the Amazon, who has never been outside his tribe, it means NOTHING.

Ah, okay jconnar, thanks I wasn't sure if it might also have something to do with a Saturday night, or maybe a rabbi or a secret society savant. But I'm not sure, it just seemed like it might because of some vague fibambulation rechime messages that came in through a fissure in the diagonal interdementianary field-zone.

They were a blues band called earth but the bassist had an idea to write songs with a horror movie theme, they named themself after the movie.

well i'm going to throw this one out there for discussion .

But perhaps black sabbbath selected their name to distance themselves from 'sabbath' insts

The sabbath is jewish yes , so maybe black sabbath went 'were not jewish'

To be honest I don't have a clue all heavy metal sounds rank to me
