Not justifying alfie getting wacked over the head and hurt so bad by the police. But regarding him not being allowed to be sent to the westminster hospital, that is procedure. During large riots (i am not going to say demonstration because most end peacefully) or any other large police operation, there will always be assigned a hospital for the police, and a hospital for the suspects/protesters/rioters etc. This never used to be the case in the past (pre 1990's) but after experiencing the families of injured officers and the families of injured criminals or a protester in some cases clash, or some form of "retaliation" they created this policy.

Charing cross hospital is also not far down the road from westminster and chelsea hospital, the hospital which alfie was originally refused from.
