Perhaps the people who should be held responsible for this are the people who decided to put an untrained adult in charge of a class full of kids...in order to save money.

That would be the school then.

I've had to leave the UK (not a bad thing in itself) because there is no supply teaching work anymore for qualified teachers, it is going to unqualified 'cover supervisors' who get paid half of what we do, and don't have the slightest clue about how to manage or even entertain a load of teenagers.

Things are only going to get a lot worse. Buy your tickets and get out now...and if you have kids...then god help you.

Replacing teachers with cover supervisors has been happening for a long time now, the school I worked in didn't seem to replace the retiring experienced teachers unless with NQTs, not a bad thing in itself but many of them seem to be fully brainwashed and cynical before they even hit the classroom. In this case though, I don't think her lack of training was the issue. Not molesting the children should be standard practice.

Should be..... but anyone can be a cover supervisor. No clearance or training necessary.

The PGCE teacher training because of its very intensive and somewhat personally invasive nature, is certainly is able to spot a pervert or a nutter at 50 paces...

I might be wrong but I would be surprised if any pervert (or someone with a penchant for shagging teanagers) got through a UK teacher training course undedected.....

So yeah, we shouldn't have these cover supervisor's messing our schools up. I taught at schools with these people in operation, their lessons sounded like monkey houses and the kids then went to other lessons with the monkey house mentality, thus making things harder and chaotic all round the school.

BTW my escape plan worked perfectly....enjoying the sunshine and still wearing shorts most day... cicadas chirping in my backgarden and I can see the sea from my bedroom window......enjoying it, but I have to work hard at the school here, the kids are nice but noisy as hell...
