Much appreciated - good resource that.

I have Blacks in hard copy but the maxims are alphabetical and takes an age to find relevant ones without a ton of scanning.

Yeah says it all, it was actually under Blair that the High Court ruled in favour of the former residents.
Sadly the Queen used some power (name alludes me now) that overruled the court!!!
So in my view any form of Justice and Democracy went out the window that day.

I think what saddens me just as much is just how few people even know of this.
It is one of the saddest stories I have ever read, I opening cried reading how these people were treated.

From what I can remember it was taken by some kind of compulsory purchase order legislation. Similar to what they use In the USA. The Federal Government force compulsory purchase, usually below market value, then sell the land to private developers who make a killing. All under the guise of "for the greater good" apparently.

Sadly not even as complex as that, the UK simply decided to lease it to the US for a Military base. The British government did every trick in the book to get them off.
