With the case appearing to be going nowhere, the AFP is understood to have been pushing for its agents or others to re-examine the investigation. "There were discussions about it with (former AFP commissioner) Mick Keelty and that's what they wanted to do," Mr Lapthorne said. "The Croatians are resisting it. What's their reason for resisting? This is a case affecting an Australian citizen. It's their sovereign territory, but . . . they have to get some credibility." The AFP yesterday confirmed talks had opened about a potential review of the case. "The AFP and Croatian police have been discussing the possibility of reviewing certain aspects of the investigation in relation to the disappearance of Britt Lapthorne," a spokesman said.
