Post Creepy / Paranormal (True?)Stories Found Online

*Warning* Probably don't want to read these before bed... Can you handle THIS one, for instance?

Quote:
When I was about 4, I was sitting alone in the living room playing with marbles. One of them rolled under the couch, and I stuck my hand as far under as I could to find it. I couldn't find it, so I withdrew my hand... and a black, withered, feminine hand reached out from under the couch after me. I remember it clearly. I sat there, too young to really know how batshit insane this was, but I remember thinking to myself "this is not right." I sat there dumbfounded and watched it; it groped around, then withdrew. Then it emerged again, pushing some plastic wrappers at me, as if it was trying to give them to me. When I didn't take them, it withdrew again, taking the trash with it, and was gone.

I got up very calmly and walked to my mother in the kitchen, at the other side of the house, and told her, 'mommy, a hand just reached out from under the couch.' She got an odd look on her face, of course, but I was a very quiet, obedient kid who did not tell stories. She told me that was impossible and walked back to the living room with me, and even reached her hands under the couch to show me there was nothing there. Later, my dad came home and lifted the couch, and all that was under there was my marbles, and some random trash.

For years, I discounted this as just a vivid dream I had had when I was a child; obviously I didn't believe it really happened. But years later, when I was like 18, I mentioned it to my mother in recollection. She surprised me by saying that, no, it actually happened; she remembered me coming to her that afternoon and telling her about the hand under the couch. She said it had disturbed her greatly, and was the reason they had thrown the couch out soon after, because she had bought the couch second hand, and the seller told her that an elderly black lady had died on it.
The following 20+ stories are from other threads online which I won't link to as it's against guidelines.

It's sometimes better to read stories posted by members of other forums for the simple fact that they have reputations established and aren't anonymous story-tellers who can just tell a big fib and walk away.

Here we go!

Drill Hole In Head To Release Demons

I have a sister who works in a call center for reporting child abuse. Apparently she has a lot of co-workers that have to go out on call and investigate them. One of these coworkers told her about the time she went to this old woman's house who supposedly lived alone.

The house itself was just creepy as all hell, extremely run down and also had one door to an inside room that she had apparently boarded up sometime before. It turns out she had been keeping her son in that room for most of his life. I can't remember how old he was but I do remember that she wouldn't let him out because he would "destroy things" and that she had drilled a hole into his head to let out the demons.

Creepy Art-Project Manikin

I'm posting here today because I need your opinion and advice on something. Recently, I created a life-size dummy out of plastic wrap and packaging tape. I used myself to mold it by wrapping my body in layers of plastic wrap, then in layers of tape, and then cutting it off and taping it back together again. Once i made the structure I put clothing on her and gave her a really fucked up makeup job (she's supposed to look disturbing for this particular art project) and then put a cheap blonde wig on her. I named her Carol. I gave her a back story and a personality and for the past week or so have been treating her as if she were real.

I brought her into school with me, and a lot of people were really creeped out by her. Especially my art teacher. Today, he told me that I he didn't want it in the art room anymore. When I asked him why, he said that when he was staying in the room late that night, Carol had been in the corner of the room. Which was where she'd been all week. He went into his office for a moment and when he came out, she had apparently moved from that corner and positioned herself right next to the door to his office. This freaked him out a lot, and he didn't want her to be there anymore. So I did him a favour and brought her home with me.

She's standing next to me right now. My mom wants me to get rid of her. She says that she gets a strange, creepy feeling from her. I do too. It seems like everyone does. And I kind of want to get rid of her. The thing is, I need her at least until tuesday so I can complete this art project that involves taking photographs with her. I also worked pretty hard on her, which would make her even harder to get rid of...What should I do?

Phone Calls from Ghost Child

something kinda creepy that just happened. All weekend I've been getting calls from a number marked private. I typically don't answer calls like that but this was the fifth or sixth time they've called. So I answer and it's a woman asking me why i have been calling her repeatedly since friday night. I ask her what the hell she's talking about.

Apparently at around 3 in the morning every morning since friday, voicemails sounding like a small child saying her name over and over have been left on her phone, and my number is the one that has been leaving them.

Real Banshee Encounter

So a few years back I was visiting some friends in a nearby city. The night went well; it was good to catch up with them again, as I hadn't seen them for a while. As the hours wore by, we began to walk towards one of their houses.

Which would be when we heard a blood-curdling scream coming from a side-street. Now, normally in a strange city, I wouldn't investigate this - but we were in a vaguely suburban area, it was relatively well lit, and there were a few of us. So, the girls in the group stayed on the main road, and the guys went to take a closer look.

The screaming did not stop. It sounded like it was coming from a nearby house, and it sounded like the screams of a woman. Maybe a child, perhaps. The lights in this house were on, and as we approached it I vaguely considered calling the police.

But the scream was not coming from the house; it was coming from the garden in front of it. In the gloom I could not see anything distinct, but I could now tell that the scream was coming from the branches of a tree. Something inside that tree was rustling violently, although thanks to the darkness I could not tell what. I exchanged glances with my friends, we paused, and suddenly the shaking - and screaming - stopped.

Silence for a moment. My friends and I exhaled.

And then something moved through the trees, rapidly, and before we could react it was gone. Glances exchanged again, but we were quickly satisfied that whatever it was had left. We walked back to the girls, and continued the evening as planned.

The next morning, I walked back past that same street.

On the road, there was a fresh chalk outline of a body.

Faceless Doll

oh yeah i forgot another one, my nan and grandad used to own a holiday caravan down by the english coast, i was staying there one year with my mum and dad i was staying in one of the bedrooms when one night i was gonna nip to the toilet and as i came out the door i noticed that by the second door she had a small knee high child doll thats facing the corner and covering its face....who buys them!? it was horrible it was like it was being punished, any way i was older then and not scared just...urgh thats horrible, any way i turn it around....the things are made with blank white faces.
there was nothing.
that for some reason in the middle of the night fucked my shit up lol.
went back to bed after the loo then stayed awake thinking about the faceless kid in the hallway facing the wall.....urgh! (shudder)

Creepy In-Home Spiderman Statue

Life sized statues are always creepy without fail. When I moved out o the dorms in college and into a rented house near campus, my mom managed to acquire a spider-man statue that her place of work had in storage. Nothing scary about Spidey, right? wrong. For the first few weeks of him being there I freaked out whenever I was in the same room as him with the lights off. He never moved or anything but I think our brains just see the darkened outline of a person and immediately force us to think "there's a man in the room" even if we know it's a statue.

Spectral Figure On Roof + Creepy Riding Hood Doll

Once as a little kid I woke up one night, I cannot remember why most likely a bad dream, and decided to grab one of my toys which usually helped me get back to sleep. This toy was an old Power Rangers figure and it was on my little desk which sat right in front of the large window in my bedroom. Looking out of this window you could mainly just see the neighbourhood trees and next door's flat roof. However that night I noticed something that has haunted me all my life. On that roof was a silhouette of a man or at least something resembling one. It was crouched low on top and as soon as I blinked it was gone.

For a long time I rationalised this as my imagination gone wild and that I can have easily seen nothing and that I was still bleary eyed at the time. However then weird things began to occur to me over the years.

Another case was my mother had an old Little Red Riding Hood doll that if you flipped the dress over her it revealed the Wolf. She always kept the Red Riding Hood mode up, only bringing out the Wolf for when I was bored as a toddler and she told me the story. This doll was also kept at the foot of her bed on a little chest which we still have lying around our current house. Basically one morning she went shopping and as I wandered around the place and as I walked past her room I saw the doll. But it had the Wolf side up. This was odd because I saw her leave her room, with the doll showing Little Red Riding Hood, just an our ago before going out. All I did was close the door and put the issue aside.

Shadow Man Under Streetlight

I was out taking my dog for his last bathroom run at midnight down our street when I noticed something odd. Down the road from us on the next corner is a pub and outside it that night I saw a tall, skinny silhouette. I thought it was a heat lamp they kept outside by accident, one of those big ones they use in restaurants.

However the goddamn thing began to move.

First it tilted its "head" and then it made its way towards me and my dog. My corgi, Monty, at this point was stock still and all he did was stare at the thing a good 50 meters away from us. It was almost like he was holding his breath. Also this thing didn't walk. There was no swaying of arms or movement of any other limbs. It just slowly got closer and closer. Needless to say we both turned around walked as quickly as possible, almost ran, back to our house a few doors away.

Haunted Home

I have nothing to back this up, I have simply heard these tales recounted multiple tmie by my wife and her brothers.

They all swear that the house their family was living in before I ever met my wife was all sorts of haunted. The house has been torn down since they moved out, but the lot it sat on is pretty damn creepy, and they showed me the graveyard that sits neglected in the woods about 1/4 mile behind where it used to sit. So there may be some truth to this.

On one occasion my wife (who was like 10 at the time) made a haunted house pillow fort thingy in her bedroom, using her barbies as props. She and her brothers swear that as she was hamming up her little tour of this thing all the one of the barbies stood up, walked jerkily to the center of the room and then collapsed, at which point all of the barbies arrayed around the room stood up simultaneously and then collapsed a moment later.

My wife told me she walked in on her grandmother having coffee and a conversation with her dead grandfather, not too out of the ordinary, senile old woman being senile, except my wife says that the chair across the table scooted back on it's own when she walked in.
Quote:
Stumbling Into Ritual Territory

In 6th grade my two friends and I (I lived in the country with my dad, and my middle school was populated with the sort of folks who were threatened by someone who read for pleasure so I didn't have a vast army of friends) found 3 houses in the woods near my house. Nothing terribly creepy about them, just kind of odd, they all sort of faced each other and one seemed more like a business than a home in the way it was laid out, it was much smaller than the other two houses and had only one large room with a counter or bar type deal, with a much smaller room off the side. We used this little village to play tag and hide and go seek. One of their dad's let us use his paintball guns one time and that shit was a blast.

Well one morning we walk into out our "village" as we had started calling it, and in the middle of the three houses was the remains of an enormous bonfire. Great, we figure, some ass hats from school have found it and are probably waiting to beat us up, as this was a rather common occurence with us. We cautiously investigated the houses. The first one we checked out was the "saloon". Place looked normal aside from the decapitated deer head layng in a pool of blood on the counter/bar, that was covered in flies. Needless to say that shook us up a bit, we freaked out and ran back outside. After the initial shock I got my wits together enough to suggest that some hunters probably stumbled across this place and used it to dress their kill, gross but not horrifying, or satanic or anything right? Well once we got the courage up to check the two other houses we found that someone had spray painted pentagrams and this odd picture of two malevolent staring eyes on the walls, and on the floor of the second house was a pentagram with black candles at each point... well we fucking bolted.

In hindsight it was probably just some bored jackass students from the nearby highschool fucking around pretending to be wiccan or satanists, or something else they had no real knowledge of, bu goddamn if that shit didn't almost break my poor 12 year old mind with fright.

Woman Proves Auric Sight (Not Super Creepy)

I was a freshman in college, and dating a super senior who did reiki and owned a celtic jewelry shop. She was pretty crazy. She had like 4 stepmothers and fathers, each. When she did reiki, I could definitely feel the energy, which is certainly explainable by science.

One of her stepmothers was a self-described "witch" (cue eye rolling and burnings of wiccans in effigy), who lived in the ex's home state of Alabama. I had come to visit her family there, so we drove out to say hello. She read my ex's aura or something. I was smirking all the while.

I had her do it for me too, to see what she'd say. I thought i'd test her to see if it's a cold read, so on a whim, I envisioned a white sphere shielding me, like I did when I was scared of things in the dark when I was a kid. I didn't do it right away. But as soon as I did, she said "stop that", and described me as crafting a sort of diving bell for astral travel around myself. I hated to go in the dark until I was in high school. It just made me jumpy. I often got the feeling something was in the shadows. I think most of the time it was the overactive imagination of a nerdy kid, but now I wonder.

It could still have been a cold read - I probably scrunched my nose or something when I did that - but this is the most credible supernatural experience i've ever had. She had zero interest to lie to me - no need to impress or scare me, and there was no money at stake.

Demon in Kitchen?

One night I was very...'distraught' we'll say.
I was home alone in my living room at my computer when I started to hear growling coming from my kitchen. Now my living room and my kitchen are connected, no doors, only divided by a small wall. I started to hear the sound of glass smashing on my kitchen floor. Freaked out, grabbed my boxcutter and checked it out. Nothing. I was only like 10 feet away from the kitchen. And there's no way to get past me really because from the living room you can see both entrance ways to the kitchen, and one is right by the door. which was locked.
Anyway. Demon, up in my shit.

Creepy Summer Daycamp

i used to work at a summer daycamp where the story about it was - and i know this sounds like utter bullshit - believe me i'd been going there my whole life, but the story was that it used to be a church and the preacher was an ex war vet who accidentally killed someone during a war flashback, and as it got worse there were a couple more bodies and whatnot.

There was this closet on the stage that it was rumored he had hung someone. The place got caught mildly on fire (i say mildly because the whole place wasn't destroyed) and years later it came to be a japanese community center. My dad had worked there at the daycamp just like I would years later. As such, I came back every summer.

The ongoing stipulation about this place was that it was relatively haunted. My dad has stories of going upstairs to turn the lights to the gym off only to find them on as he was closing up, himself being the only one there.

One of my old supervisors was pretty freaked out about the place, and she later quit halfway through the summer, something that since I'd started going there would only happen if there was a complaint about that person, and I can't see anyone complaining about her because she was downright awesome. I mean, heck the guy she worked with would give people bloody tittie twisters and he never got one complaint.

Anyway pretty close to the time she quit she seemed to be really tired and exasperated, she told me some stories of how she used to close the place up at night and being the only person there (just like my pep-pep). She would get the light thing (she didn't know good ol' pep-pep either), plus sometimes hear loud foot stomps or loud arguing and stuff of this manner in the gym while she was getting work done downstairs only to see there was nobody there.

2 years after this, I had a similar experience. Okay, so we have this annual fishing trip where we wake up early in the morning after sleeping overnight there on the floor of the office and never catching anything the following morning because God hated us.

Well, this water cooler thing would make loud bubble sounds sometimes and it woke me the fuck up in the middle of the night. Got up, looked around. Sure enough all 20 people sleeping on this floor were where I saw them before I went to sleep.

But gosh darnit I heard loud angry arguing, angry stomping of feet, and the rubber balls bouncing around upstairs. Once again I looked around. Nobody was awake, everybody was present, nobody else was supposed to be there. Like either a goddamn G or an idiot in a horror movie, i walked my ass upstairs to the gym to see if there was a deatmatch going on. I felt the Creepy Basement Feeling of course, but when I got up there, there wasn't shit up there. I looked around to find any foul play. The rubber balls were still in the bins, nothing had changed. Nobody was hiding anywhere, and there were no visible specters there either.

Nobody else heard anything.

So I guess that one particular stupid story my pep-pep and many others had told me turned out to be true, at least validated in my mind. Of course I don't think the place is actually a burned down church but it is haunted by golly.

A couple years later and my friend swears he saw a blue Orb flying around in the office when he was there alone and is scared to death of going there, though he works there technically. It's pretty funny to go there with him. The pussy.

Home Alone: But Not Alone

First, I was usually fine hanging out in my basement by myself, even at night. Except some nights I would just get an overwhelming 'creepy basement feeling' and have to leave the basement very quickly. Now this usually happened late at night when I was by myself so I always chalked it up to an overactive imagination, plus I never saw or heard anything, just felt creepy.

Except this one day. I had just come home from high school. My parents had work and my brother had some after school thing so I was home alone for a few hours playing on the computer. I all the sudden got hit by an extremely strong wave of 'creepy basement' feeling. This was odd because it was in the middle of the afternoon, not late at night like usual. I kinda decided to ignore it figuring there couldn't possibly be anything spooky going on in broad daylight. Then I hear someone walking upstairs. I could tell whoever it was was coming out of my parents' room and heading toward the basement stairs. At first I thought that maybe my mom had come home without me realizing it and was coming down to see me. The footsteps stop at the head of the stairs. So I figure I'll go upstairs and see who it is.

I checked the entire house over and over again for a good 15 minutes. I was the only one there. Now I'm freaked out, but luckily nothing else really happened in regard to that one mild event.
The second event took place in the living room of the same house but a few years earlier, again when I was alone in the house. I was sitting on the floor playing with the cat when I felt a strong "oh shit" feeling come over me. This wasn't like the 'creepy basement' feeling but like the feeling you get right before you go over the drop on a roller coaster. Like a "something significant and jolting is about to happen" feeling. And after about 1 or 2 seconds of that, it did.

To this day I have no idea what this was or if it was paranormal or psychological or what, but this is the best I can do describing it. It was first and foremost a sound. A really really loud pop, like someone popped a balloon right next to my ear. As soon as I heard it I turned my head in the direction of the sound and saw a yellow-ish white sphere of light floating about 4 or 5 feet in the air maybe four feet to my right. It was there for a split second and then disappeared before my eyes.

I have no idea what it was but the weirdest part of the experience was the deja vu feeling I had when it happened. Like this wasn't the first time I had seen/heard one of these things. Like it was something I had experienced before but my mind had blocked out for some reason. Just another unexplained experience I guess.

Thinking About The Recently Dead Summons Them

About seven or eight years ago a friend of mine killed himself. I'd been neglecting our friendship for a few years preceeding that, and his death was a source of intermittent bouts of guilt. I didn't necessarily feel guilty because he died but because, had I been a good friend, I could at least have attempted to mitigate the other indignities he'd been suffering. In case you're wondering: Yes. I am in fact Jesus.

So a few months after he'd died I was lying in bed and really, really wishing I could just apologize to him. In fact, I wished that he were there right at that moment so I could apologize in person. I was on my back looking at the ceiling when, holy shit, I swear I saw him in the corner of my eye, just standing in the middle of my room. Being the brave soul I am, I immediately turned my face to the wall and cowered under the covers. I don't for how long, but I felt him--like a heaviness--looming over me, just waiting while I hid. Eventually the sense of heaviness passed and, after a minute or so of waiting, I forced myself to peek out from under from under the blankets. I couldn't sleep the rest of the night.

Spooked at 3:33 AM

Ok, so it's about 3 am a few nights ago, and I'm up playing Batman, because it rocks and I'll be fucked if I'll let the god damn Riddler get the best of me. So the power starts to flicker, and I'm used to it because the power grid where I live is shit. I know it's about to shut off, so I shut down the 360 and TV, and grab my flashlight. I hear what sounds like voices downstairs, so I go down to make sure everything is turned off, but there's nothing on.

All of a sudden everything goes bright, like a power surge, and everything starts to go crazy and turn on and off. I figure everything is about to get fried, so I'm running around trying to unplug my electronics, and there's this strange shrieking building all through the place. It's like someone screaming, but all electrical, if that makes any sense. I start to get afraid that the wires in the walls are overloading and about to burst into flame and burn the house down. As I get upstairs, suddenly everything stops, goes dead, and the power goes out.

I'm semi-religious, and there's an old wive's tale about 3:33 being the witching hour, or when the devil fucks shit up, or something. It's just a superstition, not a part of Christianity as far as I know. So it kind of creeps me out that the only light in the room is my clock blinking 3:33. Then the power comes back on, and I can smell smoke, so I run back downstairs to put out the fire, thinking that the toaster overloaded or something. Every light in the house is on, and everything I didn't unplug is running. When I get downstairs, every door to every room is open, and in the kitchen every drawer is open, and every cupboard is open, and the stove and microwave are open. It looked like someone had walked around and opened up everything.

I really don't know what the fuck all that was about. I just went back to playing Batman, but I stayed up all that night. It was pretty fucking creepy.

Hovering Teddy Bear

When I was a child I had a very vivid dream in which I awoke to find my teddy bear missing. I sat up and looked over the room from my top bunk, only to find my bear floating midair. It look at me, I tried to scream, and then it shook like it was frightened.

I think I woke up, fled to my parents room, and slept there the rest of the night.

Years later I found out that the previous owners of the house were an elderly couple that had been killed in a car accident. My mother had seen, on more than one occation, a shadow walk past her room down to mine. She descsribed it as the old owners checking up on the new ones. At that point we no longer lived there, and I was very happy she didn't tell me earlier.

Maybe I had dropped the bear in my sleep and something was giving it back. Maybe it was just a dream. I still have that bear, somewhere, though I am hesitant to give it to my kids.

Kid Freaking Out While Camping In Yard With Friends

The weirdness of children. This story creeped me out most of my life.

When I was still a kid my parents would send me over to stay with family on Kaua'i for the summers (we lived on O'ahu), since my cousins were a little younger than I was. Since we were basically inseparable during the summers we all slept together.

On this particular night we convinced my aunt to let us sleep outside in the backyard - you know, the usual tent routine. We'd had a nice, long, romp of a day, we're all very tired so we drop off to sleep quickly. After a while my cousin (Keegan - he's about 5) sits up with a terrified scream and starts flailing. His brother (Corbin, 8) and I (11 at the time) are completely confused as to what to do, not to mention a little scared ourselves, so we run out of the tent and back to the house. Both aunt and uncle come trooping to the tent with us, by which point my cousin has calmed down and is sleeping peacefully.

Needless to say we get in trouble when Keegan admits he has no idea what we're talking about, he's been sleeping this whole time and would like to get back to it. Corbin and I are told we shouldn't do practical jokes like that, yada yada. We all go back to sleep, everything is normal the rest of the night.

Next day, lots of running around, lots of play, the usual. Night time comes and we again sleep outside in the tent. Again Keegan does the screaming routine, again we run to the house in a panic, again nothing but scolding comes of it.

The following day Corbin, Keegan, and I start discussing, in our childish way, what could be happening with Keegan. Is he playing a joke on us? Keegan swears up and down, nearly in tears, that he has no idea what we're talking about so we come to the conclusion that he must be possessed. Needless to say this doesn't do much to comfort us, Keegan especially.

That night we again sleep in the tent, under the stern warning that if we pull the 'Keegan's freaking out' joke we'll never sleep outside again. That night Keegan again has a screaming fit. Corbin and I now face a dilemma - we don't want to stay in a tent with a demon, but we also don't want to run to the grown ups and lose our tent privileges. So what do we do? We run and hide in the abandoned sugarcane fields bordering the property. The tall, rusting, shadowy sugarcane fields.

Needless to say we got lost and spent the whole night worrying about where we were, where Keegan was, was the demon following us, we were going to get into so much trouble, etc. etc. Eventually a neighbor found us in the morning and brought us back. Corbin and I both got into large amounts of trouble and tent privileges were permanently revoked.

It was only until I learned about night terrors (last year) that I realized what had been going on.

Demon Claims Baby

One of my friends told a me a pretty freaky story a while back.

He was in high school and working at a retail store in the mall. His manager was a middle aged woman who happened to get pregnant while he was working there. At some point during the pregnancy she started acting unusual. My friend asked what was wrong and she told him what had happened. One night she was sleeping and woke up suddenly. There was some kind of demonic creature the size of a child perched on her dresser across the room. It raised it's hand and pointed at her stomach and said "That's my baby", smiled at her and vanished. The baby was born deaf and blind.

Third hand story but it freaked me out.

Bigfoot?

When I was 9 (25 now) I was out in the woods with my family consisting of my brother, sister, mom, step-dad, and some "extended" relatives of ours. My sister knows this only from our stories and my brother is a year younger than I but we all remember this the exact same way. Anyway, for those of you from Washington (state) we were in the Cle Elum area, near Bullfrog for those of you who know what that is.

So we're driving down this bumpy old logging road, my brother and I in the back of the truck just talking about cartooons and such when the road comes to a set or railroad tracks. The parents decide this is a good place to stop so we all get out and start mucking around, having a small snack, etc. A family friend of ours, Dave, is looking down the tracks when he says "Hey, what's that across the tressel?"

We all look and see this dark, tall figure looming near the edge of the woods on the other side. Dave, himself, is rather tall so we're thinking its just another guy out on a stroll but my step-dad and Dave keep insisting its too weird, that he's acting strange and too tall. So we all gain a little more interest and start walking down the tracks to get a better look.

So anyway, we're just to the edge of the tracks when my mom starts getting really nervous, she doesn't like that we can't make out any color or features on this guy and that his arms seem almost impossibly long, even given his height. Dave finally stops, and yells "HEY, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" The thing on the other side, stands up straight, easily giving it another 6 inches of height, looks at us, and turns back into the woods.

At first we all didn't know what to think, then Dave and my step-dad turn to each other and go "Big Foot?" almost at the same time. My brother and I light up, because that's easily the coolest thing we've ever heard or seen. We still don't have a better explanation for it and its even fueled my brother's quest to find him again.

Not scary, as I said, but definitely a "Hmm, more to this world than it seems" sort of moment for all of us.

Spectrals At House In California

I live in northern California, in an area that's been a town for some 150 years or so, gold mining stuff. My backyard is full of round stones with bowl shaped indents in them, and my mom and I always joked that they were old Indian grinding stones. Basically, this place is old, and my parents are more observant than me, I guess.

Some years ago, my parents are home alone working in the backyard one weekend. Normal enough. They see two dark figures go through the glass door into the house, and so they thought it was my brother and me. My mom called after us and didn't get a response, which was a little strange, and based on a hunch decided to check the door. It was locked from the inside (my dad's really anal about this and would only ever let us get into the backyard through the garage, which is how my parents got out there that day). Later, looking for my brother and me, they remembered that we had been at friends houses the entire day. This freaked my dad out more than anything, and he's one of those people that absolutely denies supernatural stuff. He probably would've dismissed it as a trick of his mind if my mom hadn't seen the exact same thing.

When my mom was really young, 5 or 6, she lived in Santa Clara. She and her sisters distinctly remember, and still claim, to have seen a young girl in a blue dress throughout the house and outside, who had this strange habit of vanishing. This wasn't a huge problem because they didn't live there long, but we found out years later that a family that lived there in the 50's had a son who accidently shot and killed his younger sister.

Last and also shortest, several years before they had kids my parents were walking around the historic part of our town, old buildings, shops, restaurants, and stuff. My mom walked past this fenced off alley, I guess decided to look inside, and swears she saw the shadow of a figure running away, and when it reached the end it just... she described what it did as evaporating.

Actually a lot of people have reported seeing shadow people around the historic part of town and it's a common enough occurence that its been mentioned in our town paper.

Did That Armor Just Move...

So when I was about 10 or so I had a friend that lived down the way that lived in one of the longest houses I've ever seen. Wasn't wide, just super long. Had a long hallway in it which is important. He was relatively new as he had just moved in. Pretty cool kid because he had a pinball machine AND a friggin suit of armor. Thinking back it was probably some kind of tin crappy thing, but at the time it was a friggin suit of armor.

Well he's there a few months before I actually stay the night at his house, but he's told me about strange stuff going on, mainly noises, but we chalk it up to being an old house. heh right?

So I'm over there staying the night and we stay in the back room (game room). Remember it's just one long hall and coincidentally that suit of armor is right in the middle of the hallway, against the wall of course. So we're back there and it's late. Dark thirty or something you know. I cannot sleep. He's out, sister's out, parent’s out, but I'm wide ass awake. Then I hear a pop in the roof. Then a pop in the wall. You know how hold houses can be and how your mind works when you’re a kid. Then I hear the one sound my mind never wanted to hear.

You know how "cool" that suit of armor is I mentioned? Not so much when it's bathed in dim light silhouetted by shadows. Creepy as fuck is what it is.

But I heard the sound I dreaded. Metal on Metal from out in the hallway. Not overly loud like wake up anyone, but loud enough you can hear it in the dead of night. My mind could have made the noise I thought. I had been thinking about it in my mind not wanting to hear it so maybe I just imagined I heard it. So I wake my friend up and tell him what I heard. He’s half asleep and tells me it’s nothing, until his eyes almost pop out of his head cause he heard it the next time. We looked out into the hallway, peeping tom style, did it move? Was it in a different position? I couldn't tell, and honestly didn't stay to figure it out. I hit the back door and told him to shove his house up his ass. Cause honestly I need to live you know. I bet he had fun explaining how in the middle of the night his friend got up and just left. I have a key people, you can’t keep me here no matter what time it is.

Never did find out what actually happened but his sister flipped her shit one day and ran away... forever. On the news and everything a couple years later after I'd moved. They never did figure out what happened to her. I hate that house.

Haunted In The Navy

My friend shared with me a couple of his own real-life experiences.

During his tour of Iraq (around 2003), he was stationed at the USS Carl Vincent, when an alarm wakes him up around 3:00am. He's given orders to investigate where the alarm sounded off, which was at the bottom of the ship, 7 hulls down (I made him repeat to me three times what the area was called, and I knew I was going to forget it by this point. Something alley).

Anyway, he has all his gear together, and descends down the ladder leading to the area, which is about 3 feet long. He does a scan of the area, and reports in that it's all clear.

Before turning around and going back up the ladder, he can hear the metal clank clank clank of someone climbing down the ladder, followed by a final thunk of someone leaping and hitting the metal floor underneath. Figuring that someone was giving him backup, he begins to tell the other guy that he's alright and that nothing's wrong....

But once he turns around and faces the ladder, no-one's there.

He's perplexed, but figure he's sleep deprived, so he ascends up the ladder....

And once he reaches the top, he immediately hears what he describes to be a loud, piercing male scream from below the area that he just investigated. Scared him shitless.

Two months later, he says that another buddy of his was given the order to investigate the same area, at the same time (3:00am). According to his buddy, he came face to face with a tall, shadowed figure. Before he can get a good look, the figure throws a huge wrench which bounces off the guy's helmet.

After that experience, the poor guy went "Section 8", which he says is code for someone going completely mental; not sleeping, not eating, and put on suicide watch.

He says the USS CV has had more than a fair share of suicides and deaths occurring in her hull, so incidents like these happen all the time. I know there's a few soldiers in this board, so maybe some of you guys can vouch for this?

Grandparents Haunted House (Scary)

I have a couple stories, about my grandparents old house that was haunted, at least I think so. Now I am the only one that experienced any of it, though all my relatives agree the house could be very creepy.

They sold the house to renovators long ago, but I stayed there a number of times when I was a kid. The second floor wasn't creepy in itself, but that is where I usually experienced this stuff. Two instances always come to mind.

The second floor was just a long hallway the length of the house with 4 bedrooms, two on each side, and a bathroom at the end of the all. The whole house was wood floor so lots of creaking. Old as hell too so there was a lot of house settling going on when it was quiet. I always understood this happened so wasn't usually scared by those noises. I always slept in the room at the end of the hall on the right. The one across was used as storage and my grandparents were right next door.

The first experience was waking in the middle of the night with the horrified feeling that someone was in the room with me. It was just about pitch black with the one window covered in heavy drapes letting only the smallest amount of streetlight in. The only light switch was across the room from me by the door, which was closed. I was too scared to get out of bed and turn the light on so I just pulled the covers close and slowly began to scan the room. I noticed that the closet door was open, and I couldn't remember if it was like that when I went to bed. Either way, under the clothes hanging there I could see two legs wearning rainboots as if someone were standing behind the clothes. I totally froze up and couldn't move. The legs didn't move, they just stood there - and in the dim light I could barely make out what looked like the occasional shift of weight from one leg to the other.

The normal sounds of the house seemed to have stopped, creaking, wind out the window, my grandpa snoring in the room next door, like it was all sucked out of the air. I don't know how long I stared at those legs but eventually I forced my hands to move the covers over my head where I just laid and shivered. I stayed like that till I fell asleep from exhaustion. When I woke up I immediatly checked the closet thinking I had just seen a pair of boots and in the dark mistook them for legs, but there was nothing on the floor of the closet.

The second experience was about a year later, staying the same room. I awoke at night to hear someone walking slowly up the stairs at the other end of the hall. They walked down the hallway and stopped in front of my door. Then nothing. Couple seconds later I hear the clicking of their big black lab coming up the stairs, walking down the hall and then stopping in front of my door. The dog whimpers a little, very quietly and then walks away back downstairs. This didn't scare me since I was accustomed to hearing people come down the hall at night to use the bathroom so I fell right back asleep before it dawned on me that I never heard anyone use the bathroom or saw the light go on. In the morning at breakfast I ask my grandparents who was still up at midnight coming up the stairs to the use the bathroom since normally they are already upstairs in bed not long after me (I was young enough to have a bedtime then). They said none of them was up late last night and I must have heard the house settling again.

The basement was probably the scariest place, but some of that is likely just because it was an old, dank, poorly lit basement in an old house. I but on many occasions I would go down there to get a soda or beer for some relative and while down there hear the sand on cement sound of footsteps in one of the other rooms down there.

Blanket Tugged During Sleep / Haunted Okinawa

I had recently graduated from basic training and tech school at the time (I’m USAF) and got my first assignment to Okinawa. After a 15+ hour flight with numerous layovers and periods of waiting around (the AF motto should be changed to, “Hurry up and wait!”) I finally get my luggage and meet my sponsor (a guy in the AF longer than I was and working in the same office I was assigned to), who takes me to get my dorm room.

After grabbing the key and dropping my bags on the floor, I’m dead ass tired from traveling and jet lag. I just plop on the bed, curl myself up in a brand new blanket I got at the local BX (the on base mini mall) and pass the fuck out. I was dimly aware that had remembered to lock my door and made a mental note that the central air conditioning in the room was out of commission before I fell asleep, though. So it was hot as balls since I arrived during summer.

So in the middle of the night I wake up in bed facing the wall with the door to my back. I realize I’m freezing my ass off and shivering, it’s so cold. Strangely, I couldn’t hear anything resembling the whoosh of the AC vent in the ceiling, unless it was on full blast while I was asleep and was now shut off at that exact moment.

It’s dark, and the light out in the hallway must have been shut off too (not so uncommon as people would shut it off all the time to reduce glare inside their rooms), otherwise it’d be spilling in from under the door jamb like it normally would. I’m just lying there motionless and still as death when it happens. I felt something tugging on my blanket from behind my shoulder. It was gentle at first and, of course, my first reaction is that I was imagining it, a trick of the mind chalked up to exhaustion.

But after a while the tugging on my blanket got more persistent, as if whatever it was behind me was trying to get my attention. Meanwhile, I’m going, WTF? It couldn’t have been anyone I knew aside from my sponsor, and he didn’t seem like the type to jerk around the new guy his first day on the island. And I was sure I had locked the door too, so it couldn’t have been anyone else on my floor or in the building wanting to make introductions. After sneaking into my room. In the middle of the night. In the dark. While I was asleep. Yeah.

So I’m lying there cold and tired, trying my best to ignore whatever it was behind me, wishing to god that it, whatever it was, would just go away and leave me the fuck alone. The hairs on the back of my neck are raised on end, I got goosebumps going up and down, and my holy shit radar is on high alert. I absolutely refused to turn around and kept facing straight at the wall.

Somehow I knew deep down inside that if I turned around, I’d fucking regret it. So I closed my eyes shut and forced myself to go back to sleep. It felt like hours before I drifted off again, and every now and then I could feel my blanket getting tugged by some unseen, spectral force from behind me.

I woke up the next morning covered in sweat, the air conditioning is out once again, and the room is hot and humid as hell. Looking around I don’t see anything wrong with my room. The door leading out into the hallway is locked from the inside, and so is the bathroom door (a bathroom is jointly shared between two rooms so you’d have a suite-mate, or piss-mate as was commonly called, but my piss-mate at the time was deployed).

To this day I still don’t know what the hell it was I felt (it never did happen again)

House With Baaad Vibes

To put things into context I live in a old city and, as such, there are a ton of old Victorian homes. We also have two universities here and as such many of these old homes have been converted into apartments. Basically every student here has lived in one of those homes - including my friend.

So, apparently strange things had happened to my friend and her roommates starting from the day they moved in. Doors closing for no reason, appliances turning on, etc. My friend had a young daughter who, at the time, was 3 years old and for some reason would cry like crazy when she was left in her room alone. This caused my friend to have her daughter sleep in her bed with her all the time - afterwhich my friend started having nightmares.

Anywho, that's just all general stuff - this specific event took place when they were being visited by a friend who was extremely spiritual. This friend, her name was Caroline, was actually a Reiki master and was all about auras and that sort of thing. I've met this girl and she is the nicest, happiest person I've ever met. As soon as she went through the door of that house however she became immensely depressed and somewhat ornery.

Over the course of the evening she stays the same way but also starts feeling kind of sick. Eventually she excuses herself and goes to the bathroom upstairs. The friends carry on with their evening but eventually realize Caroline has been gone for an awful long time so somebody should likely go see if she's ok. My friend's roommate heads upstairs and finds the bathroom to be completely empty - weird.

She calls out for Caroline but there's no answer - weirder. So she starts looking around and eventually finds Caroline in my friend's daughter's room. Caroline is sitting on the bed crying her eyes out which is, of course, a shock to the roommate considering Caroline's typical demeanor. When asked what's going on Caroline explains that when she went to the bathroom she heard my friend's daughter crying in her bedroom. Caroline, assuming something was wrong, goes in to comfort the daughter. Turns out that the girl crying is not in fact the daughter but is some sort of spirit. Caroline, being incredibly spiritual isn't actually all that phased by this and actually asks the girl why she's crying. The girl actually tells Caroline that she's afraid of "him" because he's "so mad" and points to the bathroom across the hall. Caroline looks and sees a man standing in the bathtub that looks incredibly angry. Now this frightened her as, when she looks at him, she feels the same sickness that she felt when she came into the house - just intensified.

After that, Caroline just sat on the bed with the girl while the angry man stared at them. He never moved from the tub - he just stood there and stared with absolute rage in his eyes. After this Caroline went home and never came back to that house. In fact, as soon as she walked out the door her entire disposition changed back to her normal, happy self.

A few months later the group of friends began fighting for a number of different reasons. One of the biggest points of discord however was that one friend was monopolizing the home phone and calling long distance while not footing the bill. This caused them to disconnect the landline and all get their own cellphones. Although the problem was fixed the group eventually moved out into a new apartment. The phone monopolizer went off on her own while my friend, her daughter, and the other roommate found another place together.

The day they moved in to the new place my friend gets a call on her cellphone from the old landline at the house - which had been disconnected. When she answers the phone it's like the line is active but nobody is there - it's just silence. Over the course of the next year they continue to get these calls despite the phone company assuring her that the line is no longer active.

Generally Creepy

When I was a kid my mom took me and my sister trick or treating on Halloween. My sister was being a pain (she was like 4 or 5) and my mom took us home. My sister wouldn't calm down so my mom said she was gonna call the devil. and she called some random number on the phone and put my sister's ear to it and she started crying hysterically and freaking out. A few years ago I asked her what she heard but she said she didn't remember.

My mom also told me of this story from when she was 15 or something and she got her hand on some weird tape of some creepy old lady talking about Hell, she took it home and her and my aunty listened to it and it started freaking them out so they tried to turn it off (tape recorder) the stop button didn't do anything and it kept playing. This freaked them out even more and they tried taking the batteries out, when that didn't do anything they just threw it on the ground and ran out of the house.

There was one occasion where they were upstairs and they started hearing what sounded like furniture being dragged across the floor and then the sound of all the glasses breaking (they had a little bar downstairs) and of course when they went down there everything was as it was left. Undisturbed.
That's all from that bunch

I almost couldn't finish the first post but I forced myself to because even though I'm scared, I love scary stories.

I finally finish and then I find out there's more! I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight unless I have the lights on. I've got my dog in my room to protect me.

We've also got some good stories from this forum here!

And my own ghost stories are pretty spooky I guess... I'm kind of biased since I actually experienced them.

This one from the first post is majorly creepy. I'm glad I read this one in daylight otherwise I wouldn't have been able to sleep last night!

I find the subject interesting but with respect, I must be critical of that vid's veracity.

Could not a person be hiding on the floor beside the bed and pull down the sheets, knock over the floor lamp, open the armoire door from the bottom, kick the chest of drawers knocking down the tall objects sitting close to the edge? Most of the action was in that corner of room where a person could hide on the floor beside the bed.

As far as the mirror rotating upward and downward, could another person be hiding on the flooring tipping it from the bottom of the frame that is not in shot?

If such a thing was real then yes, it would be nerve wracking to live in such a house and I would move!

I DO NOT doubt paranormal activity and I appreciate you sharing that vid, but unfortunately YT and other such outlets have given free reign for hoaxers to offer performances and true believers have to be skeptical.

To be honest, I think it would be neat to be a ghost hunter--on the one hand. On the other hand it could present dangers that I am not interested in considering past experiences.

Sometimes I wonder if stories like that could possibly be true because who would buy a couch after being told someone died in it!? Sheesh.

Either way, that story could definitely compound a child's fear of what's under their bed etc.

When I was 5 in Kindergarten our teacher read us a book called "The Ankle Grabber" which was about a kid who had to jump onto his bed everynight from a few feet away, for fear that the ankle grabber would grab his feet and pull him under the bed.

We all sat listening horrified because that was exactly how we got into bed and we had similar fears. So, yeah... it was a pretty terrible story to read small children. lol.

I experience poltergeist activty. I was singled out from a group of 6 people and tormented for 2 days by it. Why did it chose me? Because when I was told the house was haunted, I mocked the spirit and it didn't take to kindly to that.
