Especially in US. In many cases its a big one in the center of it. In general they are present there either way. Now I didnt go around the world graveyard watching LOL. I just came across that on many pictures of major graveyards and any time I see a film where a scene takes in a grave yard obelisk is there all the time. What is the obsession of putting them there? Why are there obelisks in there? As far as from my research goes, obelisk is supposed to symbolize satan himself. So what is with this tradition? Wasnt the whole tradition to "believe" that the soul goes to Jesus(I mean a "tradition"). What are your opinions on this? Is it like stating that most go to hell by putting that thing up there? I am not criticizing any system of belief here. I just wonder what is the significance of putting these things up there? Last edited by seo_monster; 12-03-2010 at 02:24 PM. |

I have noted them when visiting the graves of relatives etc. I presumed that they were there because of 'masonic intervention - or for masonic graves etc. i.e. the egyptian link etc........ |

hi there. i do not know the answer, yet this is my take on it. an obelisk is the missing phallus of osiris, the antenna to attract masculine energy, yang, the sun. by placing obelisks in graveyards, live human beings are deprived og masculine energy, which then goes to ead bodies instead, and people, men in particular are left with an imbalance with an overactive yin or feminine energy, the moon. The sun being light and masculine, one eye of Ra or Horus, yang and the moon being dark and feminine, one eye of Ra or Horus, yin.

The obelisk is a sacred, geometrical shape which connects the physical world and the spirit world.

Thanks for the input. Most of the stuff I read was clearly connected to the Egyptian god Ra or the sun god.
If its the masonic belief I woul be curious to know what they believe by putting that thing there. As a matter of fact we see a whole ton of crucifixes there too. Wonder what would be the purpose of mixing those it with obelisks? Crusifix obviously doesnt have anything to do with an obelisk. |

They are a way of communicating with our ancestors - whether we believe there are different "kinds" of spirit world or not.

I just wonder what is the significance of putting an obelisk in greveyard, if its supposedly a medium to communicate with spirits. It must have some other meaning.

good observation seo monster
![]() obelisks act as antennaes sometimes, channeling the energies from beneath (earth) to above (air/ether) i have read that souls can get "stuck" under these monuments which may be their purpose |

You put grandpa's body there - so you put his monument there. It doesn't have to be. It could be a favourite place of his that he loved, or a place that was connected to him in some other way.

I hate cemetries personally. Every time I been to one I can feel a very high concentration of negative energies. As a matter of fact i felt so wrong about being there that I had to get out of there ASAP. Literally. Its as if God was telling me "you must not be here". Thats just my experience Last edited by seo_monster; 12-03-2010 at 05:59 PM. |

Watching too much TV/movies/media/etc. It's all put in your head. I like cemeteries. They're quiet and peaceful.

No so.
They are usually situated at the other end of the building (west) - sometimes at the crossing (usually a smaller spire). What I find interesting is that the dome is positioned either at the crossing or over the altar.

I usually go see my family's grave site and all over I see obelisks around the park. I went up to the largest I've seen. Seems like family plots. Also a wide range of Masonic graves, sporting the square and compass and I've seen the lady of that man along side him with the Eastern star logo. I've seen these books of gravestones which has a wide range of different symbols for your tombstone as I picked out one for a family member during the arrangements . My aunt also a funeral director at this same cemetery so I'm gonna ask what she knows. But I do know she is around Masons (Co workers).

Of course you will see more obelisks at mason's funerary sites - they have their origins in Egyptian spirituality.

the obelisk is also a symbol of re-birth and fertility. no masonic conspiracy, just symbols embraced by people who understand our wholeness in this universe.

cemeteries are cool. we've got a bloke who signed the Declaration of Independence buried at our local church. I love walking through the yard looking at the stones. and penises.
