Me camping/survival gear.........
I just thought it would be good to make a thread were other people may also include pics of there survival/camping gear and give comments or constructive critism......... All welcome. Now im quite a beginner in all of this and am trying to improve my gear all of the time. This thread is for people to post there survival/camping gear and offer and recieve advise by anyone willing.... We all have to start some-where so dont worry if you think your gear is not that good, its a start and its not a competition......... I just think its good to see what some people take into the woods and compare and improve on your own gear......... This is not all of my gear, there is other bits and pieces but this is most of the stuff i would think of takeing, depending on the weather and location ect.  ^Rucksack/tent and telescopic fishing rod. Not many people seem to reccomend a fishing rod but maybe a telescopic rod could be a good idea?, like you could go for a spot of fishing and maybe catch some food......... These a pic of the tent - vango banshee 300  Seems quite good ^ i have only camped in it twice so far, but with no problems.  Down sleeping bag/ tarp (approx 10ft by 10ft) and tough skin therma-rest -  just a pic i got of the web to show the thermarest.  Some knives and tools - i dont take all of these things, just pick out afew to take mostly.  Random things - water bottle/bins/mess tin/firelighters and pouch with cotton balls and vaseline plus lighter & fireseteel & candles in pouch/torch/ paracord/ gill net/ fishing hooks an line.....  Boots and clothing - wool jumpers/ water proof trousers/ scarf/ thermal underwear ect. So please feel free to comment and offer advise and also add pictures of your own kits ect. See yas on the trail

excellent thread there .
I was going to make one about my kit but I am glad you took the initiative 1st . I shall take some pics over the weekend and post them here . thankyou for the creativity . we need more people thinking like this . great pics by the way . ( question ) why dont you explain how you use them and what you find , pros and cons etc . good thread , shall return back to this over the weekend sometime .

(As a side note, if anyone could reccomend any decent rucksacks that would be good, the one i hvae got is allright like, just thinking about getting a new one sometime.) I just want to add aswell - the "webtex machete" got welded because it broke, thats why there is string around the handle/tang. I want to start building up a survival bag incase worst comes to worst , has anyone got any good links to alist of essential things needed or could just write out a basic list. Bag is my first purchase , how big should it be ?

I just want to reccomend those "trioxane" fuel tablets........... i have just got some and i tryed lighting a little piece and it burned for 5 and a half mins, so quite impressive.......... -
These some info and links which i will post about the main pieces of kit which i have, for anyone intrested..... Everthing which i show here i reccomend and so far have not failed me - "100L outdoor gear rucksack" - ^some good pictures there aswell of it. "Para Cord" - ^^^ All of this is some of my kit which i reccomend because i havent had any problems with them so far, i am not saying that these are the best though by along shot, just some things which so far have worked for me. You are more than welcome to reccomend other things which have also worked for you or which you think may be better....... I hope it helps the newer folks who are getting a kit together and it might save them wasteing some money.........because i have wasted hundreds on shit items - tents/sleeping bags/rucksacks/knives/shovels/tools ect..... But like i said before i am also trying to improve on my own kit and any reccomendations will be appreciated. Cheers...........

summer light weather shelter is an old single skin ridge tent vango something ?
didnt have a name tag when i got it so dont know . poles removed an adapted to be supported by guylines pegs are fashioned from twigs total weight 1.3kg 100% waterproof cant be blown down as its guyed to trees so very stable . mat is a 3/4 foam job cut down to fit pack only no other reason ,s bag ultralight vango all in weight around 2.5kg cooking old school mess tin . pack 35ltr panther theres some other odds n sods like compass etc but its fairly basic the more you add you more carry and less agile you are mat and tent change for winter and i use trangia stove but thats all all folks . |

Like sannox I too have a Vango, the canvas force ten model.
Flint & Steel Swiss Army knife & Filleting knife Axe Water bottle A lightweight multi fuel stove. (Never as light as a flint & steel & an open fire though!) For anyone who wants a decent lighter - JET 1300 BUTANE LIGHTER -
I recently bought one of those ^^ and so far they seem well worth the money, just be slightly careful you dont get sand in them because that could cause problems. But i am happy with it - its got good features. |
