Default osteomyelitis chronic leg ulcer?

Does anyone have any ideas of how to heal or help reduce the pain of this condition? my mother has this on her leg and its very very bad, she's on the NHS list for an operation ( the infected bone has to be cut out... then a skin graft has to be done ). the thing is tho its getting worse week by week and the pain is getting unbearable for her .. and popping the pain killers is doing no good!

It is known that individuals with low vitamin D levels are more prone to osteomyelitis. If you can have her levels checked with a 25-hydroxy vitamin D test, it would be very useful. Start on vitamin D 10,000 iu's daily with supplementary vitamin K2 and magnesium (use chelated) for the first 6 weeks. Then either test or drop to 5000iu's a day. Extra vitamin C daily will also help the body fight the infection.

You need to see a highly qualified natural practitioner. This kind of condition can be critical, especially where bone is concerned so please do not mess around.

Pure real honey will help but you will have to get it from a beekeeper or a source where you can be sure its raw and not treated in any way.

Another way to heal the ulcer is silver solution. 12 parts per million. I don't know if the silver impregnated bandages have enough in them to be any good.

Healing the wound will reduce the pain.

My heart goes out to her. One of my family had the same thing. Started off bad and ended up 10 times worse due to incompetent nurses!
The nurses usually work through all the standard procedures i.e. 'silver' bandages, 'seaweed' bandages etc.
A very painful condition as you say, the morphine has to be increased bit by bit.
Vitamin E can make a difference in the early stages. Manuka honey would be worth a try, up to a certain point. If it is really bad, an operation might be the best path to take.

My friend has osteomyelitis and vitamin D supplements have transformed her life in so many ways, but I would agree with Ozpixie and say get her to speak to a practitioner who can look at the whole picture of health and history as these situations are always more complex than a simple pill.

I have used Manuka Honey on an infection that did more good than the presrcibed cream. Aloe Vera straight from the plant might be beneficial?

Colloidal Silver has been known to clear up all kinds of infections. Available at almost all health food stores. I would be taking about 4oz/day internally and applying on the area of infection a few times per day as well.

I can vouch for Manuka honey. I did some research myself when my daughter had 2 ulcers on her leg. We went down the doctors/NHS route and they did jack all for us.

As you say it just gets worse the more you leave it. I can definately swear that Manuka honey is the way to go with ulcers. You need a high strength variety. There is a variety of strengths starting at 5, then 10, 15, 20 and 25. Anything from 15 upwards is good.

Get some silver-cel pads/patches from your doctor and apply the honey to the shiny side. (Anti-microbial dressings are good too.) Leave it on for a couple of days, clean thoroughly with baby lotion (not water) then put another honey patch on. Try and keep it as dry as possible.

Do this until the ulcer looks dried up. It's not immediate, but takes about 2-3 weeks to see results, but anything is better than having parts of the leg/bone removed.

Also try massive doses of vitamin D. (You can't overdose on this BTW) At least 5,000IU a day. Cheap enough online.

Hope your mum gets better soon.

Also there is a Bee Keeper in Norwich area www.apitherapy.biz have complete bee foods on there including Propolis tincture, Royal Jelly and Bee food and honey...Inflammatory conditions are often Oxidation so try Astaxanthin, and Omega 3 from www.Naturalhealthpractice.com you can also get Vit D test from them and get a Consultation with Dr Marilyn Glenville PHd.I agree it is a nasty conddition and needs fast action and does she have Diabetes? Or Candida systemic overgrowth could be issue her Adrenal glands might be low and thyroid. Deadly Nightshades foods cause inflammation as does stress and candida. Vit B 9-Folic acid 200-600mcgs, B6-20-60MGS, B12 100-300 mcgs..or see Vitamin UKL they do B12 Lozenge...1,000mg Curcumin Douglas, see www.greenbodies.co.uk

' itis' is always inflammation.
