I've always had problems performing in this world for some purpose. I believe a lot of it is scientific but I sometimes wonder if there's a religious factor such as black causes providing off my adverse power.
Now I have handle my this depression to great extent through yoga workout.

Curing depression:

The orthomolecular therapy posted earlier in this thread (supplements) is good, but very expensive.

Also, St. John's Wort and Ginseng
Excercise
No masturbation or porn
Try an amber crystal for you solar plexus chakra
Orgonite or himalaya salt lamps to clear electromagnetic soup from you home...
and last, fix any issues you might have with the economy to make you feel safe, financially
Take up some hobbies or find new interests
Dating
Cut back on news, even relax your DIF surfing and conspiracy stuff
Listen to music that makes you feel better
Meditate on times, periods, experiences that made you happy

and last, try some release technique, to release any suppressed feelings of anxiety, sorrow, grief. One tecchnique is called the Emotional Code and is quite effective. You also have on that's called 'tapping' that doesn't work for me, but by testimonials, works for others. Also NLP and (self-)hypnosis might give you the edge, if your therapeut or hypnotist is skilled and experienced.

Taurine can be added to the supplements if you're also suffering anxiety.

Good luck, stay strong and best of luck to you.

i have had depression and anxiety for years now... on and off...

one thing i find that always helps lift my mood is Chinese acupuncture... ideally twice a week, but i'm going once a week now. i feel much better than i did before.

For an even bigger boost, try taking some qi gong lessons if you can find a teacher in your area. they balance your energies and help your mood.

i think attention to diet helps and just trying to be around people you get along with etc...

sometimes if i'm depressed i like to go to the beach and walk on the sand etc... i think walking barefoot in nature can really improve the mood as well and so can regular exercise i think.

Glad your finding some relief. I have always found a visit to the beach to be therapeutic, even if its cold and raining. Must be the sea air. One of my lifes goals is to live near by sea.
