Default Improvement with my lucid dreams.

The frequency of my lucid dreaming experiences has gone up significantly in the last months.

When I first had them, it was a very rare and random occurence. At first I was aware of the fact that I was dreaming but I was basically just going through the motions with little control over things.

One of the first things I learned was to go through walls or ceilings and fly. But I quickly got bored with this and rarely do it anymore. Eventually, I learned how to seek out specific people. The way I started to do this was to look in my surroundings for a door or stairway. I would go through them with the intention of finding someone in particular. I usually had to go through many doors and stairways but I would finally find the person that I seeked. I even one time used a shower curtain, I would close it and open it until the person I was seeking would manifest in the dream.

Eventually, I learned to escape unpleasant dreams. At first I learned that facing the thing or person that scared me would work. Instead of feeling like I was running waist deep in molasses trying to escape someone, I found that the scary thing or person would run away terrified of me. Or another scenario I use is to ignore the scary person and walk away, usually looking for a door to go to another dream. After the dream would revert to being pleasant instead of me waking up from a nightmare.

Now, if I want to change the situation of the dream (if it gets unpleasant), I close my eyes in the dream, spread out my arms and start to think about strong positive emotions like love or think of a loved one and instantly a rush like a strong wind comes over me and my dream becomes pleasant or my loved one I was thinking of appears. I find it funny because it's like my very own (Harry Potter, Patronus Charm). It keeps the bad stuff away. In the case where the dream is too scary to focus on anything positive, I have a garanteed escape. I open my eyes in my dream as wide as possible and that triggers my eyes to open in real life. (I am then awake)

My nightmares have helped me achieve lucidity. I find that if a dream becomes scary, that is the moment where I start to ask myself if it is real. I then realize I am in a dream and I get excited and change it to make it pleasant. ( I did find that if I get over excited because I realize that I am in a lucid state, I can get pulled from the dream and wake up) I now learned to counter the effect by focusing on the image in front of me and keeping calm. I can tell when I am about to be pulled from the dream and wake up when everything gets dark and I only see faintly the outline of what is in front of me. At that point I can open my eyes easily for real to find myself awake. It's like I am both in dream and awake at the same time because I can usually hear what is going on in my house at the same time and I can feel my pillow and mattress and body. Now if I wake up from a dream, I can sometimes go back to sleep and continue my dream. All I have to do is keep my eyes closed and focus on the dream I was just having.

I now have lucid dreams regularly. It's fun. I love sleeping.

I know I rambled on but I felt like sharing my experiences with you all.

Have the qualities of your lucid dreaming improved? Care to share?

Just as a general comment,

I've found that the more spiritual you get, the more accurate your dreams are in recollecting them and understanding them. Seems logical, but it should be motivation for people who struggle spiritually to overcome their problems.

I think you might be right.
I know I have become more spiritual in the last year or two. I feel more connected to the world around me,(especially the earth and living things) I like to spend a few moments when I go to bed to clear my head and meditate. It feels wonderful and my life has greatly improved. I was plagued with depression and anxiety before. Now, I have never felt stronger.

I do see a relation with the timing of this and the changes in my dreams.

Thank you for sharing.

awesome great to hear about the getting free from some of your old dreams. ive done the wading through treacle many a time too, and had a brief bit last night after reading this thread. its such an amazing feeling to just let go of it and float away. try dreamviews.com, sometimes the dream threads around here aren't all that active
