When you talk about stimulating the economy I didn't think you meant the puppy mills...
i can hear them tooling up now...for the new craze of 'must have' dog

With the eyes of the world watching...you could have done the right thing
...what with all those homeless peeps and pets put out by incompetent politishuns and greedy bankers
How is it the greatest mongrel race on the planet is obsessed with pedigree dogs?

I'm guessing that plonker refers to the fact that Obama got himself a nice pedigree dog instead of a rescued mongrel. I do see where the OP is coming from, but I'd be a hypocrite to agree since I am about to get myself a chocolate labrador puppy. I do support Dogs Trust though.

I get stick for not supporting cancer or aids or something. Yea, because they engineered those bloody diseases!

Dog is God backwards for a reason. Never met a dog that I didnt like or didnt like me. Im a saddo.

You should have seen this little scruffy three legged dog I met in Wales at the weekend. It was the most adorable thing.

Try an outing to the animal homeless shelter...to see if your heart could possibly expand to the addition of a mutt to compliment your adorable but probably stupid/obsessive/possessive highly bred choc lab

PETA Killed 97% of Companion Animals

In 2006, PETA apparently took in 3,061 companion animals, of which it killed 2,981. This information supposedly comes from the Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS).

The Center for Consumer Freedom, an advocacy group representing the interests of manufacturers and retailers, issued a press release today that made light of this figure.

The press release goes on to report that the average euthanasia rate for humane societies in the state was just 34.7 percent in 2006, compared to PETA's kill rate of 97.4 percent.

Apparently, the Commonwealth ordered PETA to submit a report of its operations for all of 2006, and PETA finally complied 9 months after the deadline.

Those of you who have followed this blog for a long time know that I've been a big critic of PETA, charging them to be hypocrites in the most vile kind of way.

They campaign for our donations on the grounds that they're going to take care of these animals, love them, and protect them, and yet it appears they use that money to buy syringes, plastic bags, and pentobarbital.

They're opportunists. When an animal tragedy occurs, such as the Michael Vick story, they capitalize on the situation with their, "I told you so" advertisements, and leverage donations from our emotions.

What's worse, PETA, or Michael Vick?

No one who calls themselves an animal lover can stick a needle into a perfectly healthy and adoptable dog, and tell it that they're doing this for love.

If you're going to argue that a "kinder, gentler death" is better than a cruel one, then you're just as clueless as Michael Vick.

Mongrels are the best dogs - not an engineered clone.

Recently lost my beloved 16 year old rescue dog. Had him from 6 weeks. Still devastated.

Not normally one for banning things but I personally believe there should be a ban on breeding dogs whilst there are a surplus of homeless dogs.
