I saw the future today

i hardly ever give money to a bum who looks like he is an alcoholic or drugaddict;
because i don't want to pay for other people's drugs.

last weekend i was in a big city,
and by the time i made it out of the trainstation i was approached by 5 different addicts
asking for "one euro" for food... ehh....

there are shelters and places to go to for free food in every western country.

I dont give money I give a warm drink n a meal sometimes just a kind word is enuff to brighten a homeless persons day - not all of them are after their next fix?

I was homeless myself a couple of years ago but thankfully i didnt have to beg.I myself have been giving to homeless people for years,there are a lot of good people out here not everyone is heartless.

Skyline, good onya honey, that was a lovely thing to do & I've also done the same myself now & then. The latest was back in December when I was in Edinburgh with my 7yr old son. There was a homeless guy outside the shop with his dog & my little boy bought him some dog treats from M&S with his own money, bless him

I think people should do this more often & thanks for sharing

To all the less fortunate than us,

you could say are you ok,are you warm enough,do you have somewhere to live,how did you end up on the street,would you like something to eat,anything i can do to help within reason,i find giving a meal helps,a bag of chips, a pasty,or maybe a warm drink in winter and a cold drink in summer,sometimes people just need some one to talk to.

and not everyone is a charity case,some do it on purpose,but wisdom should tell you that

what i mean by that? experience is experience good or bad makes no difference... somebody has to be homeless or poor or sick its the nature of this world. im truly puzzled what would we do in an utopian society

i come to the conclusion that we cant change a thing all will take care by itself... This world this existence will come to the end some day and something new will come to replace it. take care of yourself and people close to you, do no harm to others learn from your experience and thats about it...

Perhaps I will add something more of subsatnce just for you Astro: I have given homeless people my home, only to have them shit on me. Now I only carry a message IE you can have what Ive got, if you are prepared to do what I do. I wont carry anyone anymore.

I am genuinely sorry to hear that. I,too, don't like being taken advantage of.

I've had *friends*, that i'd given a roof too, nick my fender strat and effect pedals just to settle their coke tabs.

They're gone (as were the *friends*) and it pissed me off mightily.. but i'm still keeping the faith and trying to be kind to those worse off.

That's not the future. I lived in London 11 years ago and it was the same then. London sucks dick! Fair play to you though my man keep up the good work. When I got payed back then I was half skint from giving money to people on the street. Never saw it growing up in Northern Ireland, although there are more homeless people here now to when (rarly) go into Belfast city centre. Think it is a city thing to be honest. Prob the same in every big city around the world.

Leading by example, that's the way. I lived in a homeless shelter a couple of
years ago for 2 months. Alot of addicts, drunks, theives, bums. But we're
all born into this world innocent and we can change, it's never too late. I
never got outwardly irate or yelled at them. I scrubbed the place cleaner
than it was when I arrived. Didn't expect praise or rub it in their face.
Just showed them what could be done if we all helped each other.
