The guy who had clearly, vehemently warned me away from this literature, was a very close friend, but it also transpired later that He was Master of the Lodge !
Why would a mason be so vehemently adamant that one shouldn't astrally project.... We know they know something we don't know.. ( that's what they think ! ? ) Any connection or just an overactive imagination ?

That was very interesting about the advice you had received on the subject. I went to Seminary for different reasons but also may have received dis-information as well. To be honest, the mystical side was hardly ever mentioned and only in a historical or cultural manner. There is a lot I could say on that subject that doesn't fit into this thread (I attended Columbia Theological Seminary) but just to say it was not talked about..

It is interesting what you said about the Mason. Several years ago I was working as a Bank Teller and met this guy who made regular deposits. I was telling him about my lack of concentration. I was pretty naive then and really just meant concentration at work. One day he flashed me this card and I wished I had remembered the symbol but it was some kind of secret group. He gave me this book that was in a paper sack. He told me not to share it with anyone. I just figured him to be an odd little fellow and thanked him. I took the book home for the weekend and it was on more than the concentration I was thinking about.. It was about psychic abilities. I read a little and decided to take a nap on the couch. While I was napping I distinctly heard my name called. It scared the crap out of me. I wasn't ready for that kind of knowledge and it freaked me out. I then noticed that all the clocks in my house including the VCR had been turned back 2 hours. I fixed them and then they would go back. It happened the rest of the weekend until I returned the book on Monday.

I have been stumped about the 2 hour scenario until I read another thread on this forum discussing the meaning of the number 2. It seems to be about duality. Because of what I was taught this kind of stuff was just wrong-black and white no wiggle room for curiosity. Also in that thread the dream interpretation of flying was discussed. I never dream about flying and I'm terrified of flying. I kind of put two and two together and figured out that my fear of duality and of flying-letting go kept me from developing further spiritually. I'm still sorting it all out but I thought the thread was interesting and I no longer believe in coincidences.

I agree this stuff is so confusing. Its like everything you grew up learning is upside down now. What is up and what is down...and where do we start...and how do we proceed...safely...where is the slippery slope of which we cannot return..you know where I'm going...

I dunno if that helped you out in any way but I think we share that part of the journey. Please let me know what you find out and I'll share with you as well. I think personal experiences are the most important thing we can share in order to grow.

I'm most interested in reading your other thread regarding your husband. I think my Partner had a strange experience last night. She awoke very disturbed and I had to hold her for a while to bring her back. She is a very scientific and analytical kind of person and this is very unusual for her. However, her Father was a Preacher and Cherokee and held to both traditions. I think she comes from a very spiritual family. Her sister has confined in me that she is sensitive and I think my Partner has those same gifts but is not ready to accept them yet because of the same dogmas we have discussed. Thanks for posting on both threads. I look forward to reading your other post.

It appears quite a few people have had this in-between kind of noise stage. That should offer some validity to its existance IMO.

It is common to hear noises/voices when you are between waking and sleeping states. Science (and Wikipedia ) explains it like this :

I have had a variety of sleep disorders since I was a child so I have read up on these things. It seems there is a scientific explanation for just about anything that happens in sleep but I really don't think it detracts from the validity or significance of these experiences. My strange sleep experiences range from terrifying sleep paralysis, vivid hallucinations of people crawling round my ceiling amongst other things (those ones just really confuse me, not really scary at all). I have had profound life changing OBE's, sleep talking sessions, and like another poster here said encountered purely evil beings that I can't even begin to describe. Although all this tinkering with my sleep causes me problems I would not want to 'cure' it at all. I believe I have learned too much from it and you can get used to these things.

Nimlyn I think it's really interesting that your dream connects to 11.11, many people are seeing these numbers and I personally feel they have significance. Many people think that it is some kind of cellular memory alarm clock built into your DNA. Google it, you'll see what I mean.
