Hirst auction expected to fetch £65m
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/itn/2008090...m-ea4616c.html

A major auction of new works by controversial artist Damien Hirst is expected to fetch more than £65 million.

Beautiful Inside My Head Forever features pieces created by the artist over the past two years.

Highlights include a zebra in formaldehyde and a new shark work.

Hirst is also selling The Golden Calf - a calf with a golden disc on its head and hooves and horns cast in 18-carat solid gold - which is expected to fetch £12 million alone.

Spot and butterfly paintings will also go under the hammer in the two-day London event as part of the 223 lots.

Sotheby's has said that if the sale fetched £65 million, it would be a record for any auction of works by just one artist.

The event follows the artist's Pharmacy Sale, which fetched £11.1 million in 2004 for objects designed for Hirst's Pharmacy restaurant.

Hirst's diamond-encrusted skull sold for £50 million last year.

Hirst has said: "After the success of the Pharmacy auction, I always felt I would like to do another auction.

"It's a very democratic way to sell art and it feels like a natural evolution for contemporary art.

"Although there is risk involved, I embrace the challenge of selling my work in this way.

"I never want to stop working with my galleries. This is different. The world's changing, ultimately I need to see where this road leads."

The auction takes place on September 15 and 16 at Sotheby's London.

Rourke Celebrates `Wrestler' Top Prize at Venice Film Festival

By Farah Nayeri

Sept. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Mickey Rourke, who last had a box- office hit in the 1980s, made a triumphant return at the Venice Film Festival as the film he starred in won the top trophy.

``The Wrestler'' by director Darren Aronofsky, about an ageing fighter addicted to the ring, clinched the festival's Golden Lion award. Rourke, who took his pet Chihuahua on the red carpet last night, appeared on stage with Aronofsky to collect the award.

It was an early birthday celebration for the actor, who turns 52 this month. Rourke became a professional boxer in 1991, then retired in 1995, interrupting a career that included such milestones as Francis Ford Coppola's ``Rumble Fish'' (1983), ``The Year of the Dragon'' (1985) and ``Nine 1/2 Weeks'' (1986.)

In ``The Wrestler,'' Rourke plays Randy ``The Ram'' Robinson, a onetime legend who scrapes by putting on performance fights in high-school gyms and community centers. A mid-match heart attack forces him to retire, yet he can't keep away from the ring.

The evening had another U.S. winner: 18-year-old Jennifer Lawrence won the Marcello Mastroianni award for Best Young Actor. Lawrence plays a teenager whose mother (Kim Basinger) dies in Guillermo Arriaga's ``The Burning Plain.''

The best-director award, or Silver Lion, went to Russia's Aleksey German Jr. for ``Paper Soldier,'' about a doctor who works with Soviet astronauts in the early 1960s.

Italy's Silvio Orlando took the best-actor trophy for ``Il Papa di Giovanna,'' directed by Pupi Avati, about a possessive father who cannot detach himself from his troubled daughter.

Best Actress

France's Dominique Blanc won the best-actress award for ``L'Autre,'' directed by Patrick Mario Bernard and Pierre Trividic, about a woman who breaks up with her younger partner, yet is consumed with jealousy when he meets another woman.

Heading this year's seven-member jury was German filmmaker Wim Wenders. The jury also included ``Rain Man'' actress Valeria Golino and ``The Blues Brothers'' director John Landis.

The world's oldest film festival opened with George Clooney and Brad Pitt, stars of ``Burn After Reading'' by directors Joel and Ethan Coen. The film, though out of the official competition, drew overwhelming media coverage.

Other U.S. films screened at Venice included ``Rachel Getting Married,'' starring Anne Hathaway, about a young woman fresh out of rehab who returns home for her sister's wedding. Jonathan Demme (``The Silence of the Lambs'') directed.

Kathryn Bigelow's ``The Hurt Locker,'' about an elite bomb squad in Iraq, featured Ralph Fiennes and Guy Pearce.

Vienna Shows Van Gogh as Draughtsman in EU3 Billion Exhibition

Sept. 8 (Bloomberg) -- ``Van Gogh, Drawn Lines,'' a new exhibition at Vienna's Albertina, promotes itself with a list of superlatives -- the most expensive exhibition ever in Austria and the first Vincent van Gogh show in Vienna for 50 years.

More daring, though, is its claim to shed new light on a painter who must be the world's favorite, if the number of reproductions is a guide. The exhibition, open since Sept. 5, sets out to show Van Gogh as a great draughtsman whose skills with line played a decisive role in the success of his painting.

The Albertina, whose own collection is primarily of sketches, has amassed an array of 140 Van Gogh paintings and drawings from museums and private collectors in 16 countries. The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and the Kroller-Muller Museum in Otterlo have loaned so many works, you have to wonder whether they are left with blank walls. The whole show is insured for an inconceivable 3 billion euros ($4.2 billion).

There are cases where the drawing is on show but not the painting to go with it, or vice versa. Still, there are also canvases and drawings that were unfamiliar to me because they are in private collections or far-flung museums such as Detroit or Honolulu. Among those rarely on public view is ``Garden in Auvers,'' painted in the last weeks of the artist's life, an extravagantly dotted canvas with purple and red flowerbeds tilted at odd angles.

Dark Landscapes

The show spans Van Gogh's short career, starting with the early years in the Netherlands, where he focused on depicting peasant life and dark landscapes in charcoal drawings and oils with the kind of muted colors typical of the old Dutch masters.

It then breaks out in a burst of color, the period when Van Gogh went to Paris and first encountered the work of the impressionists. He realized that his own palette was old-fashioned and conventional in comparison with this vibrant new style. Perhaps the best-known painting on display from that era is his self-portrait in a straw hat.

The last rooms cover the wheatfields, cypresses and olive groves of his two years in Provence, where he suffered increasing sickness and insanity, eventually leading to his suicide in Auvers-sur-Oise near Paris, in 1890 at the age of 37.

Van Gogh first went to Provence in search of the brilliant light and landscape of Japan. He was a big admirer of Japanese colored woodcuts, which are the inspiration for the dots, dashes and squiggles of his drawings. The magical reed pen-and-ink drawing of ``Boats at Sea'' (1888) is comprised of meticulous spots, swirls and curved short lines in varying shades.

Windswept Wheatfield

Reed pen-and-ink drawings like this and ``The Sower'' (1888) were created from the painting he had produced earlier, proof that Van Gogh valued his drawings in their own right, not merely as templates for a painting. Painted during a fierce mistral, ``The Sower'' shows a brilliant sun above a windswept wheatfield.

The drawing Van Gogh produced for Theo has, if anything, more drama and intensity than the painting, even without the penetrating colors. The sun is bigger in the sky, the lines of the wildly disheveled field more heavily accentuated, and the sower himself looks more purposeful.

Where the exhibition at the Albertina works best is in showing that each line of Van Gogh's, whether in the drawings or paintings, was disciplined, exact and planned.

Seeing the two juxtaposed, it becomes clear that no matter how thick his paint, how intense his colors or how tumultuous and fizzing with wild energy his fields and skies can be, Van Gogh's bold brushstrokes are not the product of uncontrolled madness. The precision of his drawing is there in his paintings, too.

His creeping mental illness may have affected his way of perceiving the world, but in no way did it impair his control over the meticulous execution of his work.

I watched the 25th MTV Video Music Awards yesterday.
Don't know what to think about it. It was surreal, kind of.
It was insane, the way of presenting, organising...
Every kind of disguised mothergoddess/princess figures
were there (except Madonna):
BRITNEY SPEARS, RiHANNA, CHRISTINA AGUILERA,
KATE PERRY, LEONA LEWIS, PINK, PARAMORE, MILEY CYRUS,
PARIS HILTON, PUSSYCAT DOLLS

The show was held in the PARAMOUNT PICTURE
STUDIOS
.
Show opened with a Britney Spears-Jonah Hill sketch,
in which Hill tried to hypnotize Britney in order to kiss
her, but Britney opened her closed eyes every time
he tried and that was it. It was senseless and
ridiculous and the same thing was going on all
through the show.

RIHANNA (Hanna)
entered the studio in some kind of "IRON
MAIDEN
" rolling-skirt, meters high, looked like metal and
a crowd of Zombies followed her, chased her, adored her. She performed "DISTURBIA"
(the "Disturbia" video is even more stranger, full of occult/black magic symbolism)
http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/?id=1593810&vid=272630

(side note
There was a sample of WHITE STRIPES "SEVEN NATION
ARMY"
during her performance and i think that is important.
let me explain:
the 13th EUROPEAN SOCCER SHIP was held 2008 in
SWITZERLAND-AUSTRIA
"SEVEN NATION ARMY" was the inofficial hymn,
it won against the official em 08 hymn, played in
every stadion, masses singing and humming it all
over the place. Seemed important to me.
The STRIPES got an VMA 08 award for "CONQUEST"
CONQUEST video is about Jack White as a MATADOR getting killed
by a Bull.)

VMA 08 Show hosted by RUSSEL BRAND,
a british comedian (strange, an english man to host
the 25th jubilee).
Brand is kind of bi-sexual and "suffers" of sex/drugs
addiction and bipolar disorder (that's what wikipedia
says). The worst host ever.

AGUILERA performed in a way that was rhianna like,
black suite (some kind of spiderwoman...in the first
moments of the show you could see a red spider
on a screen), black magic, occult kind of thing.

PINK perfomed in a black suite after she put down
her electric blue suite

the cards, that kept the winners name, had the Colour
YELLOW-BLACK.
PARAMORE performed "Misery Business" in a YELLOW-BLACK suite.
picture is from WIKI, but she also wore yellow-black
at her VMA performance, some kind of band colours i guess.
(look at the guitarist IRON MAIDEN)
Nuclear Colours.
(Paramore...Paramount...)

Well...lets say it was all DARK.
It was like a funeral, not like a jubilee and that strikes me.
In the first moments, after i saw the studio, i thought,
"where are the people?". i never saw a show like that
with so few people. nearly only the stars, like a V.I.P.
kind of thing. Why so few people at 25th jubilee?

Britney Spears got all her awards. Russel brand
spoke of the "resurrection" of Britney. Like some
Phoenix thing. Britney opened and closed that
show.
Britney-Britany-Britain?
Britney got the last award and she left the show
with russel brand, who told her to sit down beside
him on the bank on the back of a GOLF-BUGGY.
They left the studio on that buggy, brand was
joking, saying something like "maybe we are doomed
and going straight to death". that's not the exact
quote, but kind of. the last thing Britney said was
"Where are we going?"

Kanye West closed the show with a scary performance
in front of screen with a dawning morning sky and
a group of DRUMMERS. Song: "LOVE LOCKDOWN"
(I love "LOCKEDOWN" too...when it comes to LOST)

You can watch the performances here:
http://www.mtv.com/ontv/vma/2008/

NOW HERE COMES THE FUNNY THING:
The next MTV event are the EUROPEAN MUSIC
AWARDS
in LIVERPOOL.
Do remember LaPRINCESS, the SPIDER?
Walking through the streets in Liverpool last
week.
http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liver...0252-21664144/

There was commercial for the Emas on
german television, that was insane as
the rest of the show:
a guy sits in front of his pc, talking via
Web Cam with his girlfriend. Suddenly
you see a multicoloured morphing light
ball behind him, like a UFO, looking
through the window. his girlfriend says
"what is that?", he doesn't turn around,
says: "What do you mean?"
Than you see EMA 08, LIVERPOOL
and back to the show.

Whole thing was strange.
MOTHERGODDESS symbolism fest.

Circulated Open Letter to David Davies Mp for Monmouth 8/09/08

Dear Mr. Davies,
I have just seen Wales Today News on TV and there was a story about a mentally-ill rapist that raped a fourteen year old girl after escaping from a psychiatric unit.
The law is simple. If the rapist understood that he had a right not to be gone against without due process of law as has been everyone’s right since king John signed the Magna Carta in the year 1215 then he should never have been in the mental health system in the first place and is entirely culpable under criminal law for his actions.
However since Tony Blair took a bribe from BTP plc in 1999 to change the Mental Health Act 1983 to ensure grater public expenditure on BTP’s group of bogus medical products called psychiatric medicines. The use of the corrupt police and security services has been linked in to that of the corrupt media to produce “stories” about psychiatry as much as their use to produce “stories” about terrorism.
Everyone knows that the terrorism is false flag terrorism conducted by the government in order to aid their agenda of constructing a totalitarian state with the power to murder any non-conformists.
However what is not as widely known is that the same news construction teams have been working on psychiatry adverts that masquerade as news stories too.
The knife man of Old London Town (Not the Phantom Raspberry Blower) for example.
There is a paranoid scitsophrenic that dose not take his medication for two whole years and suddenly he runs amok with a knife stabbing and slashing as he goes.
The Ministry of Truth have a message that these bogus medical products prevent knife crime and so it is worth wavering the Pharmaceutical Price Regulation Scheme to purchase these products.
Also that people that prove they can go for years on end without consuming the fraudulent medications are not to be trusted.
But the credibility problem they have is that they have done the knife man of Old London Town “story” three times in order to help Tony do what he was bribed to do and that is sell drugs.
So I would like to offer you a word of caution about the rapist “story” because I know that all psychiatric drugs cause impotence without exception and it takes a matter of weeks for it to wear off after fraud victimisation has stopped.
What I am saying is that the whole “story” could be about as firmly based in reality as this fantasy work of fiction called Al-Qaeda. That is to say it could well be a fairy story.
I know the police are still upset after I put the kybosh on Superintendent Mel Jehu’s South Wales Police Osnan Flats terror raid and also the Lansdowne Road terror raid when that implausible Peter Clarke from Scotland Yard was spinning nonsense about radioactive vests and VX-nerve gas.
So please be informed that the whole story could have been a fantasy of the Ministry of Truth’s news script writer’s imagination.

Yours sincerely,
Robert Alexander Jones.

i looked into the IRON MAIDEN thing. There is no direct
connection to the news right now, but the album and
song titles are really...telling. IRON MAIDEN is a british
band.
Albums:
Iron Maiden (1980)
Killers (1981)
The Number of the Beast (1982)
Piece of Mind (1983)
Powerslave (1984)
Somewhere in Time (1986)
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (1988)
No Prayer for the Dying (1990)
Fear of the Dark (1992)
The X Factor (1995)
Virtual XI (1998)
Brave New World (2000)
Dance of Death (2003)
A Matter of Life and Death (2006)

THE X FACTOR is a british Pop Idol show, LEONA LEWIS won
the third staff of X FACTOR. Performed at 888 Olympics.
X3.
XXX. Olympics in LONDON 2012.

VIRTUAL XI.
XI. is Eleven.
Through the looking glass XI is IX, Nine.
I read somewhere that the main point in 9-11, is the
fact, that it's not exactly about 9 and 11, but 10,
the "missing" oder central number.
Again farfetched, but on the album VIRTUAL XI, there
is a title called:
LIGHTNING STRIKES TWICE
On 9-11 Lightning DID strike twice.

"SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME-Best of IRON MAIDEN"
released MAY 2008:

(something about PARAMORE (the yellow black live act at PARAMOunt studios, VMA 08):

Bands Label is: FUELED BY RAMEN

Now look at this VMA 08 commercial with RUSSEL BRAND and
BRITNEY SPEARS. Watch out for the ELEPHANT.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmg_Mjv1RbE
Watch out for the TITLES at the end of the clip:
MUSIC. MAYHEM. MUSIC.
CHAOS.

"SEVEN NATION ARMY" from WHITE STRIPES is from the
Album ELEPHANT.

REPUBLICAN ELEPHANT:
