I, an insomniac who needs to grab any sleep window that comes along,
nod off (far more effective torture that straight out sleep deprivation)
it's also caused me to run out of cigarettes....

Tintin, could Florence Nightingale be another link to Maddy? She was born same day - 12 May - she was a nurse (medicine and salvation intertwined) and she died August 13 1910, so the number 13 and 9/11 present here. Also, the house in which she was born was called Villa Colombaia (Columbia/Colombola connection) and she worked for some time in Turkey (key country in the war that is about to come). It is worth mentioning that among other hospitals, she professed at St. Mary's Hospital in Westminster. To top it all, according to wiki she died at the age of 90, at no. 10 Street Park Lane, so again 9 (and 10).
Florence was born in a mediterranean country and Maddy was kidnapped in such a country. Born on a day of 12, she was sent to the Crimean War on a day of 21 (12 reversed).
While I was writing the post I remembered that american actor David Duchovny (X Files) has a daughter name Madeleine West and that his wife, Tea Leoni, bears a ressemblance to Kate McCann.
